After witnessing several teases throughout the Sumeru storyline, players will finally be able to explore Fontaine in Genshin Impact Version 4.0. Fontaine includes an elaborate city modeled after European architecture and culture, and the vast new region includes deep underwater caverns and channels. For the first time, the Traveler may swim underwater to reach new areas and complete activities. Players will also be able to complete new bounties, summon new characters, and obtain new ascension materials and weapons.

HoYoverse's recent HoYoLab blog post confirms that 12 new weapons will be added in Genshin Impact Version 4.0 next week. One of these new weapons is the five-star bow called The First Great Magic, which increases Charged Attack damage while granting Gimmick stacks. Gimmick stacks will increase overall attack damage and movement speed, so The First Great Magic bow will likely be one of the update's most sought-after weapons. Version 4.0 will also introduce the new four-star Fleuve Cendre Ferryman sword, which greatly speeds energy recharge rates up while increasing the critical hit rate for Elemental Skills. A list of confirmed weapons coming with the launch of Version 4.0 can be found below.

Genshin Impact confirmed weapons coming in Version 4.0

  • The First Great Magic five-star bow
  • Fleuvre Cendre Ferryman four-star sword
  • Scion of the Blazing Sun four-star bow
  • Sacrificial Jade four-star catalyst
  • Ballad of the Fjords four-star polearm
  • Talking Stick four-star claymore
  • Wolf-Fang four-star sword
  • Song of Stillness four-star bow
  • Flowing Purity four-star catalyst
  • Rightful Reward four-star polearm
  • Tidal Shadow four-star claymore
  • Finale of the Deep four-star sword

The First Great Magic will be obtainable from the Epitome Invocation event wish once Version 4.0 is live, while the new four-star weapons may be obtained from blacksmith forging or opening Battle Pass Bounty chests in Genshin Impact. Players who reach Adventure Rank 20 or higher will gain access to the new Battle Pass, but Gnostic Hymn or Gnostic Chorus packages must be purchased with real-world currency to obtain BP Bounty chests. Moreover, the Fleuve Cendre Ferryman sword is exclusive to Fontaine Fishing Association members, so players may need to progress a quest and catch rare fish to obtain it.

Genshin Impact fans will have no shortage of weapons to unlock in Fontaine. The region's new domains should be useful for ascending these weapons to level 90 since many require Fontaine's exclusive ascension materials. Additionally, new Genshin Impact events will likely introduce more weapons and ways to earn ascension materials at a later date. Some of these materials may be required for new characters arriving in Genshin Impact's 4.1 update as well.

The 4.0 update launches on August 16, so Genshin Impact players have roughly five days to earn Primogems and prepare for the new Fontaine character banners. Popular characters like Zhongli and Tartaglia will also make their return in phase 2 of Version 4.0

Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A Nintendo Switch version is in development with no confirmed release date.
