Genshin Impact continues to inch closer towards its next major update, as December 23 and Version 1.2 rapidly approach. The upcoming patch is already known to include several new characters, as well as enemies and an entirely new region, but that hasn't stopped miHoYo from unveiling even more details.

In its latest news announcement, developer miHoYo revealed that another surprise feature would be coming to Genshin Impact with Version 1.2. Dubbed the "Stellar Reunion", this new "event" is essentially aimed at enticing players who've stopped playing the game, namely by offering a slew of free bonuses like Primogems.

Well-informed Travelers may have already heard that Albedo and Ganyu would be joining the playable character roster with Version 1.2, but the update's minor details continue to surface as release day, December 23, approaches. In fact, players can even get a glimpse of Genshin Impact Version 1.3 weapons already, thanks to recent leaks. Yet, it seems that there's still much to learn about the upcoming Dragonspine region and its accompanying 1.2 update.

The Stellar Reunion event will become a new staple of Genshin Impact as of the game's next update, Version 1.2. In short, Stellar Reunion will become available to players who are at least Adventure Rank 10, and who haven't logged onto the game for at least two weeks (14 consecutive days). Once unlocked, Stellar Reunion comprises four parts, each of which are aimed at getting the "Returnee" back up to speed with current Genshin Impact players.

The four parts of Stellar Reunion are as follows:

  1. Reunion Rewards: Travelers will be able to claim free Primogems, Fragile Resin, and other rewards, a single time per Stellar Reunion
  2. Passage of Time (login rewards): Travelers will be able to log in daily to claim Primogems, Fragile Resin, Hero's Wit (EXP material), Mystic Enhancement Ore (Weapon EXP material), and other rewards
  3. Homeward Path (quest rewards): Travelers will be able to accumulate points by completing designated quests on each day of Stellar Reunion. Once enough points are accumulated, Travelers can claim a free four-star Prototype Rancour (sword). The quest list refreshes daily at 4:00 AM, and the bonus reward can only be claimed once per Stellar Reunion
  4. Reunion Blessing (double drops):  Every day of Stellar Reunion, Travelers will receive three additional opportunities to use Original Resin to claim "double drops" from a Domain, Blossom of Wealth, or Blossom of Revelation. The amount of double drop opportunities refreshes daily at 4:00 AM

And finally, once Stellar Reunion is completed by a player, the event's progress is entirely cleared. This indicates two important facts: first, that players must claim their Stellar Reunion rewards before the event is over, or they will lose the rewards. Second, and arguably more importantly, is that Stellar Reunion resets upon completion, indefinitely. In other words, players will be able to take on the Stellar Reunion event every single time they stop playing the game for two weeks minimum - of course, there's a caveat though. Stellar Reunion can only be activated once every 45 days. So, a player in Version 1.2 of Genshin Impact who hasn't played the game for two weeks can log in and complete Stellar Reunion, but once they do, they must wait at least 45 days before being able to repeat the process once more.

Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for PS5 and Switch.
