Highlights

  • Electro polearm character Cyno is best paired with a Dendro unit in the team for optimal performance and damage output.
  • When building Cyno, focusing on stacking Elemental Mastery (EM) is the recommended path.
  • In terms of team composition, Cyno shines in Dendro comps and works well with characters like Yaoyao, Xingqiu, and Dori/Fischl for support and synergy.

Way back in 2020, when Genshin Impact first teased Cyno's appearance, just like the other teased characters, hype began to build. Genshin Impact's release of Sumeru is when players finally had access to the Electro polearm five-star. It took some time to get used to how he operated since Dendro had just come out and his playstyle confused many. But once players had sufficient understanding of how to use him, Cyno was golden.

One of the most important things to note about Electro polearm Cyno is how vital it is to have a Dendro unit in the team with him. Pairing him with Dendro will see the best numbers for him and his team. While he's playable without Dendro, it's lackluster, and he will be outshone by other team comps. To make the most of him, plan his usage accordingly.

Cyno's Build

Though his builds could range from EM to ATK to Crit balance, the best Cyno builds will amplify reaction damage. Regardless if he's working Hyperbloom, Aggravate, or Spread, he should be popping reactions as often as ICD (internal cooldown, the very thing that triggers reactions) lets him. Stacking EM is typically the best path to go on for Cyno's builds. And despite popular belief, the Thundering Fury set is not ideal for Cyno. Instead, Gilded Dreams or Thundersoother suit him better.

For his weapons, besides Cyno's signature weapon, Staff of the Scarlet Sands, any weapon that fills a hole missing in his artifacts can work. He could need around 160% energy recharge on average, and if a player doesn't have enough, then an ER polearm is fine. Any weapon with ATK, EM, Crit or whatever else suits the player's needs will do its job just fine.

Cyno's Teams

Again, Cyno's best team comps should make use of Dendro reactions to ensure Cyno is being used to the best of his ability. Unfortunately, any other team could be made with another unit who is better prepared for those compositions. Cyno in an Electro-Charged team could be subbed for Raiden Shogun, and she would be a better use of Primogems for Dendro-free comps.

Cyno flourishes in Dendro comps, where he can do a job that no other can. Other Electro and Dendro teams have their own uses, but typically, the rotations are looser than Cyno's, who has to be on the field for about 20 seconds. The best teammates for Genshin Impact's Cyno are as follows:

  • Yaoyao, as a healer and off-field Dendro applicator
  • Xingqiu, as a sub-DPS and off-field Hydro applicator
  • Dori or Fischl, to help with his Energy Recharge and heal him/be a sub-DPS respectively

Cyno's Constellations

He's in a lucky spot when it comes to constellations. Where some characters have wasted potential in their constellations or only have a few good ones, Genshin Impact's Cyno's constellations are all useful for his kit. His best, and more affordable, constellations are:

  • C1: After using Elemental Burst, Cyno's Normal Attack SPD will be increased by 20% for 10s. If the Judication effect of his Passive Talent Featherfall Judgment is triggered during Elemental Skill, the duration of this increase will be refreshed. Players need to unlock the Passive Talent "Featherfall Judgment."
  • C4: When Cyno is in the Pactsworn Pathclearer state triggered by Elemental Burst, after he triggers Electro-Charged, Superconduct, Overloaded, Quicken, Aggravate, Hyperbloom, or an Electro Swirl reaction, he will restore 3 Elemental Energy for all nearby party members (except himself). This effect can occur 5 times within one use of Elemental Burst.
