It has been some time since the gaming community has heard any new updates regarding miHoYo's new game Genshin Impact. miHoYo has now revealed a new trailer for the game that highlights a new area to explore within the game's world.

Genshin Impact is an action-adventure RPG being developed by Chinese game studio miHoYo. Genshin Impact was first revealed to the gaming populous back in June of 2019 and since then, there have been periodic updates and trailers released by miHoYo. However, the game has garnered a great deal of criticism for its numerous similarities to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Regardless, considering the level of praise and love people have for Breath of the Wild, this game hopefully will scratch the itch for expansive open world gameplay that Breath of the Wild left on the gaming community. Since Genshin Impact's gameplay trailer premiered at ChinaJoy back in August of last year, many are looking forward to what else miHoYo has in store for this game.

The new trailer that miHoYo released showcases an entirely new area for players to explore called Liyue. This area features a port town called Liyue Harbor that sits facing the open ocean and plenty of merchants and shops for players to peruse.

It's not hard to see why players might be hung up on this game's similarities to Breath of the Wild. In truth, it does feature the same sort large, open, and extensive overworld, as well as many similar aesthetic choices in terms of its overall visual design. The criticism grew so bad that a ChinaJoy attendee actually smashed his PS4 Pro to protest the game's inclusion on the PlayStation 4.

However, based on the twenty-four minutes of Genshin Impact gameplay footage that was featured at ChinaJoy 2019, it does not seem to feature any of the same gameplay mechanics of Breath of the Wild. Just the fact that the player can swap between various playable characters, as well as having a leveling system, is alone is enough to set this game a part from Breath of the Wild. It's alright for a game to draw heavy inspiration another game, so long as it's not a complete reflection of a previous work. Despite the clear similarities in level design, the gameplay of Genshin Impact is enough to distinguish itself from Breath of the Wild.

Genshin Impact is set to release in 2020 on iOS, Android, PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
