Genshin Impact Genius Invokation TCG is a thrill to play in PVE, but it can also be played against other Travelers. Because of this PVP feature, it’d be natural if cards are adjusted in future patches due to their overpowered feature. Cards that are too powerful can ruin the fun of PVP, and will also reduce the variety of cards people will face in their duel.
Therefore, a nerf to overpowered cards would be necessary. If players are wondering which cards are currently overpowered in Genshin Impact Genius Invokation TCG and deserve a nerf, here are some of the strongest.
7 Ganyu’s Elemental Burst
- Proposed Change:
- Option 1: Deal 2 Cryo DMG to the active character and 1 Piercing DMG to everyone else. Afterward, summon Sacred Cryo Pearl that deals Deal 1 Cryo DMG to the active character and 1 Piercing DMG to everyone else for one usage
- Option 2: Deal 1 Cryo DMG to the active character. Afterward, summon Sacred Cryo Pearl that deals Deal 1 Cryo DMG to the active character and 1 Piercing DMG to everyone else for two usages
- Option 3: Adjust Energy requirement to 3
Ganyu’s Elemental Burst only requires two Energy, yet it deals a total of 9 DMG. This number is ridiculous when compared to other 2-Energy characters. For example, here’s a list of total damage dealt by some 2-Energy units:
- Xiangling: 6 DMG (4 Dice cost)
- Kaeya: 7 DMG (4 Dice cost)
- Xingqiu: 7 DMG
Considering all of those characters require a specific requirement for their Burst to trigger while Ganyu’s simply takes effect at the end of each turn, the power of Ganyu’s Elemental Burst becomes more apparent.
Now, compare it to 3-Energy characters:
- Chongyun: 7 DMG
- Diluc: 8 DMG
- Fischl: 8 DMG
- Ayaka: 8 DMG
- Ningguang: 8 DMG
- Keqing: 10 DMG (4 Dice cost)
With 9 total DMG, 3 Dice cost, and 2 Energy, Ganyu’s Burst manages to outshine even 3-Energy characters.
6 Ganyu’s Talent Card
- Proposed Change:
- Cost: 4 Cryo Dice
- Effect: After Ganyu equips this card, immediately use Trail of the Qilin (Elemental Skill) once. When your Ganyu, who has this card equipped, creates an Ice Lotus, its starting usage+1
Still on Ganyu, she also has a ridiculously powerful Charged Attack. At a cost of 5 whopping Dice, she can deal a total of 7 DMG, which is fair. However, this number can be bumped to an insane 10 DMG using her Talent card. Clearly, 10 DMG for 5 Dices is too powerful as it’s stronger than most Elemental Burst.
Therefore, to nerf Ganyu’s power, it’d be best to completely abolish the Charged Attack enhancement effect. Instead, she should have a useless Talent card like Xingqiu’s that simply adds one usage to their protection.
5 Chongyun’s Talent Card
- Proposed Change: Removes one of the effects, so either +1 round or +1 DMG
Chongyun’s Elemental Skill in Genshin Impact Genius Invokation TCG grants Cryo Infusion to any character that wields Sword, Claymore, and Polearm, similar to his actual gameplay. Unlike TCG Elemental Skills that reduce the DMG count if there’s a utility involved, Chongyun’s Elemental Skill deals a normal 3 DMG while granting a Cryo field that lasts for 2 rounds.
If the draw is in their favor, players can spend 4 Cryo Dice to activate Chongyun’s Talent card. This Talent card changes the effect of his Elemental Skill to 3 round Cryo Infusion and +1 DMG for Sword/Claymore/Polearm Normal Attack.
This addition is quite overpowered if compared to other Talent cards. For example, Xingqiu’s and Diona’s Talent cards only grant one extra shield on their Elemental Skill, and Xiangling’s simply allows her to deal 1 Pyro DMG when summoning Guoba. Meanwhile, Chongyun gets a whole new round of Cryo Infusion and an unlimited +1 DMG.
If players are playing Chongyun with Xingqiu in a permafreeze team, any Sword/Claymore/Polearm character will be dealing 3 Cryo DMG on each Normal Attack. Pair this with Xingqiu’s ultimate to gain 3 extra Hydro DMG on top of an endless freeze.
To nerf Chongyun’s Talent card, the effect should be adjusted to either 3 rounds of Cryo Infusion or +1 DMG with 2 rounds of Infusion. Alternatively, it would also be fine if the card grants 3 rounds of Cryo Infusion and +1 DMG, but the DMG bonus should be capped to once per round.
4 Katheryne
- Proposed Change: Adjust Dice cost to 2 Dice of the same Element
Katheryne is undoubtedly one of the best cards in Genshin Impact Genius Invokation TCG. Once per round, she allows duelers to switch characters without spending a turn. This is extremely handy in many situations. For example, Katheryne can be used to escape opponent’s permafreeze team or to attack the opponent before they switch their character out.
Currently, Katheryne can be used with any 2 Dice. This makes her an incredibly popular card, but even if she’s nerfed to needing 2 Dice of the same Element, she’d still be included in most players’ decks.
3 Wolf’s Gravestone
- Proposed Change: Adjust Passive effect to once per round or +1 DMG
Equipment is a major part of Genshin Impact Genius Invokation TCG. There are both weapons and artifacts, and when it comes to weapons, players will have the option to use 3 to 5-star equipment. Among the 5-star equipment, the one that exists for Claymore users is Wolf’s Gravestone.
Like typical weapons, it grants +1 DMG for all hits, but it also offers another passive; if the enemy has 6 HP or less, the wielder deals +2 DMG. Considering there’s a requirement, +2 DMG is fine, but what’s not fair is the fact that there’s no limit to this bonus. This means players can abuse this weapon after chipping their opponent’s HP, or even annihilate NPCs that use low-health cards like Hilichurls.
Therefore, to nerf Wolf’s Gravestone’s power, the passive should be changed to either; +2 DMG but max once per round or +1 DMG without limitation. Of course, while keeping the 6 HP or less requirement intact.
2 Gambler’s Earrings
- Proposed Change: Adjust max usage to once per round
Gambler’s artifact is quite tricky to use as the wearer must defeat an opponent to get 2 Omni Element Dice. Because of this condition, Gambler’s artifact is likely used in the middle-to-end game, where the enemy should have low HP and can easily be defeated.
As there’s currently no limit to this equipment, players can effortlessly abuse it to defeat all the opponent’s cards in one round. By combining powerful Normal Attack characters and Minty Meat Rolls, 2 Omni Element Dice can be easily used to continuously cast Normal Attack.
1 Liyue Harbor Wharf
- Proposed Change: Grants 1 card for 2 rounds, and 2 cards on the third round
Liyue Harbor Wharf costs 2 Dice of the same Element to use, and it will grant 2 cards at the start of the next 2 turns (so 4 total). Considering there are only 30 cards in a deck, drawing 4 in 2 turns is really powerful. Players can easily spam this effect to ensure they’ll always get the card they need.
If duelers consider the fact that two of these cards can be active at once and players can even cast it for 0 Dice with Tubby, Liyue Harbor Wharf becomes even more valuable. 4 cards on each turn is an insane value.
Therefore, to reduce the effectiveness of this card, its effect can be changed to either; grant 1 card for 3 rounds, or grant 1 card for 2 rounds, and 2 cards on the third round.
