The Sumeru region continues to be a focal point for Genshin Impact as a new story trailer highlights the ancient Sumeru civilization beneath the desert sands. Genshin Impact version 3.1 introduced an extensive desert area located to the west of the mainline Sumeru region, and upcoming updates are expected to expand the region even further.

HoYoverse released a new Genshin Impact story trailer titled "Lost Legacies in the Sand," which details the tragic history of the ancient Sumeru people. Knowledge is a cornerstone of Sumeru civilization, but tainted knowledge from another world sent King Deshret's kingdom into a terrible demise. The trailer depicts ancient Sumerians falling into disarray as a disaster eats away at the land and its people. Fortunately, the Greater Lord of Sumeru came from the forests to save the remnants of the kingdom, and its heritage is preserved in Aaru Village.

Genshin Impact's latest story trailer reveals that King Deshret chose to sacrifice himself to ensure the blighted knowledge would no longer affect Sumeru. The trailer's narrator is Kasala, one of King Deshret's confidants and a priest of ancient Sumeru religion. Many of the temples scattered around the Sumeru desert are symbols of the Greater Lord and King Deshret's efforts to save the ancient Sumeru people. Currently, players can explore the new desert areas in Genshin Impact and combat mechanical guardians that protect King Deshret's ancient treasure. New boss enemies such as the Algorithm of Semi-Intransient Matrix of Overseer Network and Aeonblight Drake are available with the latest update, and skilled players may earn powerful rewards for defeating them.

Alongside the new desert region, Genshin Impact version 3.1 also introduced playable characters Nilou, Candace, and Cyno. Candace is a half-blood descendant of King Deshret and a guardian of Aaru Village. Additionally, Candace is a four-star Hydro Vision bearer with a polearm as her choice weapon for combat. Although she's regarded as a support character, she may also deal high damage with the right weapons such as a five-star Skyward Spine.

HoYoverse continues to provide useful insight into Genshin Impact's lore while players catch up with the latest round of content. As Genshin Impact version 3.2 approaches, it's important for HoYoverse to keep providing an outlet for players to review story content outside the game.

Genshin Impact version 3.2 is expected to launch on November 7, which means players have roughly a month to prepare for a new update. Although the Genshin Impact update duration is shortened by a week, HoYoverse will not compromise on the amount of content each update contains.

Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A Nintendo Switch version is in development.
