The free-to-play Genshin Impact has landed, with many players enjoying the game and eagerly awaiting more content. The release of Geshin Impact's 1.1 update intends to bring a number of changes and improvements to the base game, and more news reveals that there's more story to come for several years down the line.

MiHoYo's producer and CEO, Hugh Tsai, stated that Genshin Impact's 1.1 update will polish the game's Liyue story as well as enhance players' overall gaming experience. Travelers will be receiving the 1.1 update by November 11th, and it will expand on the continent and characters already present there. When asked by IGN about what comes after the update, Tsai shares that the developer intends to release more content to continue the game's story for years.

This might seem like Destiny's 10 Year Plan, but the producer provides more clarification on how miHoYo plans to approach the development of future content. First, the goal is to have content that lets players explore all seven major regions of the game world Teyvat. The recent 1.1 update is doing just that with fleshing out Liyue, and a follow up 1.2 update called Dragonspine will provide the game's first major map expansion as well as a third update for the Lantern Rite Festival event. However, Tsai admits that creating this content and fully exploring Teyvat will take some time.

Tsai said that to fully explore the cultures, creatures, and characters of Teyvat's regions in full detail,  will take several years to accomplish. He states that the team is currently focused on fine-tuning the content soon to be released. Tsai says miHoYo is meticulously expanding on the game's foundations while making sure that the content seamlessly fits into Genshin Impact's established lore and framework and offers greater playability to players.

When asked if there's a final version in store, Tsai states there's no concrete timeline for the content with the current focus being to refine and update the game. He says miHoYo is taking a more wait-and-see approach since the true deciding factor in the development of new content is ultimately Genshin Impact's players. The developer will follow player activity in the game and use that to determine whether to add content that advances the main story or standalone side stories. Either way, the main goal is to deliver content that tells "the story of the Traveler's journey through Teyvat."

Overall, Tsai states that the development of Genshin Impact's story will fall on two things: miHoYo's faith and passion for the game and player support and feedback. All of which will go towards improving the player experience in the game. He wraps up saying, "As long as Genshin Impact can continue to deliver great experience and quality entertainment, this otherworldly journey will go on."

Genshin Impact is available on the App Store, Google Play, PC, PS4 and is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch and PS5.
