Genshin Impact players are not happy with the way the Standard Character Banner works. At the moment, there are two different character banners in the game, limited and standard. Limited banners feature up to five different characters, one or two five-stars and three four-stars, and they usually last for approximately 3-4 weeks.
The ongoing Genshin Impact banner featuring Yae Miko and Yoimiy is scheduled to expire on June 13 which means that players don't have too much time to pull for the limited characters. The Standard Banner is the only permanent gacha mechanic in the game, and it currently features seven different characters with the Pyro user Dehya being the most recent addition.
Five-star characters have a much larger pity which means that players can theoretically spend 89 Acquaint Fates without a five-star drop and to make things worse, there is a 14% chance that this five-star drop will be their desired character. These odds will decrease even further as HoYoverse keeps expanding the banner's pool of characters. A Reddit user named BlameTheAftermath has started an interesting discussion about the Standard Banner mechanics on the official Genshin Impact subreddit. In a thread that gathered over 1.7k upvotes, BlameTheAftermath has proposed that HoYoverse should introduce the Epitomized Path mechanic for the Standard Banner.
This system is already present on the game's weapon banner, and it allows players to accumulate Fate Points. Once players reach a certain number of these points, they are guaranteed that their next five-star will feature their targeted weapon. Having a similar system in the Standard Banner would significantly increase its popularity. At the moment, many players avoid spending their precious Primogems on this banner since it's almost impossible to max out a character's constellations.
Players can easily spend tens or even hundreds of thousands of Primogems before they get a character to C6. Another way to acquire Standard Banner characters is by losing a 50/50 on the limited banner and many fans believe that these pulls should also count as Fate Points.
Some fans have also suggested that HoYoverse should introduce a new Geo character to this banner since every other element has its representative. Some elements like Pyro even have two Vision holders, Diluc and the recently added Dehya. Recent Genshin Impact leaks have been hinting that a new character named Wriothesley could also join the Standard Banner once the new Fontaine region arrives.
Genshin Impact is available on mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5 with a Switch version also in development.
