Obelisks can be seen in many areas of the desert in Genshin Impact 3.1. Some of them are small, while others take the form of large buildings. On the map, Travelers may have noticed these large Obelisks, but upon visiting them, people will find that there’s no way to enter.

Apparently, this is because the entrance is hidden underground. Opening the doors for all three large Obelisks will grant the Scarlet Reign's Great Red Sand Achievement in Genshin Impact.

To get the Scarlet Reign's Great Red Sand Achievement in Genshin Impact, players must activate three large Obelisks in version 3.1’s desert area. The three large Obelisks can easily be seen from the map, but the entrances are all hidden underneath secret passages. Here’s how Travelers can reach each building.

Large Obelisk Location #1 - Thutmose's Secret Base

After obtaining the password for Thutmose’s secret base in Genshin Impact, enter the hideout and go around the halls until players reach the entrance to the large Obelisk.

Each Obelisk comes with a time challenge where players must collect some Dendro Particles. Finish the challenge to gain a Precious Chest and access to an elevator that will lead to the main floor of the large Obelisk.

After arriving at the main floor, investigate a Clearance mechanism to open the door and bring an oasis to the surrounding area. No specific Clearance level is required to do this task.

Large Obelisk Location #2 - Abdju Pit

For the second large Obelisk, go to the Teleport Waypoint where players escape the Abdju Pit with Jeht and Jebrael. Follow the route to the Obelisk, then finish the time challenge to get another Precious Chest.

Like before, riding the elevator and investigating the mechanism will bring life back to the area.

Large Obelisk Location #3 - Underground Ruins

For the final large Obelisk, enter the underground area from the westernmost Teleport Waypoint of 3.1 desert Sumeru. Walk through the passage under the large statue, and players will notice that this area is occupied by two fans.

There’s a Forged Primal Lights (white circle) that players must bring to its Replicator Keystones (red arrow). Combining the two will form a Primal Ember. Release the Primal Ember as soon as the fan stops. If the Ember is hit by the wind current, it will dissipate and return to its last location.

Once the Primal Ember returns to its Primal Torch, the fan that creates an upward current will be activated. Now, players can reach the upper section of the ruins. Those who own both Zhongli and Venti can skip these steps entirely too, but they will miss out on one Genshin Impact Common Chest.

In later rooms, players will need an Anemo unit to reveal a Forged Primal Lights underneath a sand pile, but the rest of the journey is quite straightforward.
