Though the Harbinger's appearance in the arc is brief, it leaves a lot of questions for Genshin Impact fans to answer. Who is Scaramouche? Where did he go after the Inazuma's end? What role will Scaramouche play moving forward? These are just a few of the questions that have left fans bewildered.

8 Scaramouche Is The Balladeer

First and foremost, Scaramouche is a high-ranking member of the eleven Fatui Harbingers in the world of Genshin Impact. To be exact, Scaramouche is the sixth Fatui Harbinger with the code name Balladeer.

Unlike the other major Fatui Harbinger mentioned in the story, like the battle-hardened Tartaglia, Scaramouche is notable for his scheming nature and two-faced personality. While Tartaglia is likely to be direct with his agenda of seeking battle, Scaramouche will play a part to gain information and get rid of whatever obstacle is in his path.

7 Scaramouche's Appearance

According to Scaramouche's official profile, the Fatui Harbinger is considered by many to be fairly handsome. In terms of actual objective appearances, Scaramouche has straight blackish-indigo hair that reaches down to his ears, as well as a height that is considerably shorter than other male characters in Genshin Impact.

That said, the most notable part of Scaramouche's appearance is his attire. Being a wandering vagrant from the island nation of Inazuma, Scaramouche wears traditional Japanese-influenced clothing, as well as the nation's symbol on his chest. Despite this, the Harbinger's allegiance to the Fatui is clear, always seen wearing a jingasa hat (literally translating to soldier's hat) that has a mask-like design at its top center.

6 Scaramouche's Relationship To The Raiden Shogun

When Scaramouche was initially released in-game, there was a lot of speculation about the character's potential relationship to the Electro Archon, the Raiden Shogun. As it would happen, this kind of fan theory in Genshin Impact was eventually proven to be true; Scaramouche and the Raiden Shogun do have a connection.

To be exact, Scaramouche was originally created as a prototype puppet of Raiden Ei, eventually leading to the creation of the Raiden Shogun's current puppet body. Having been a success, Scaramouche was eventually released into the world, where he became a wandering vagrant.

5 Scaramouche Appeared Before Inazuma

Though most new Genshin Impact players will know Scaramouche from his appearance in Inazuma's arc of the story, veterans will remember that Inazuma was not the Fatui Harbinger's first appearance in-game. Originally, Scaramouche was released as the main antagonist in the Unreconciled Stars event that featured Fischl and Mona.

After this event, Scaramouche was shown to have seen a vision in a dream. Said vision drove him to make the bold claim that the "sky and stars are a lie." What this conclusion means for Scaramouche's role in the story moving forward is unknown, however, the event left a major impression nonetheless.

4 Scaramouche And Delusions

Delusions are something of a mystery in Genshin Impact, with many fans speculating how they work and how they are made. However, Scaramouche is confirmed to be one of the few characters that know how these vision-like items work, as well as how to make them.

During Inazuma's latter half, Scaramouche was brought to the land to oversee the creation and distribution of delusions to the Watatsumi Resistance. Whether or not this event was done on purpose to lure out Raiden Shogun's gnosis or the Traveler is up to debate, however, it is clear that Scaramouche will continue to play an important part in the development of lore about both delusions and visions alike.

3 Scaramouche's Current Status Is Unknown

Despite his small appearance in the plot, Scaramouche left a major impression during Inazuma's part of Genshin Impact's story quest. However, despite succeeding in the Tsaritsa's goal, the current status of Scaramouche following the events in Inazuma is actually unknown.

As was stated in the Labyrinth Warriors event following Inazuma's release, it appears that Scaramouche has run off with the gnosis of the Electro Archon. This appears to confirm theories that Scaramouche will eventually betray the Fatui and the Tsaritsa, though this cannot be confirmed at the present moment. Nonetheless, it is clear that there is more complexity to Scaramouche than first appearances would make apparent.

2 Scaramouche Is Not Well-Liked

Generally speaking, compared to the arrogance of La Signora, the craziness of Dottore, as well as the laid-back nature of Tartaglia, Scaramouche is far more strict than his fellow Harbingers. In fact, during the Unreconciled Stars event, Scaramouche was shown to have a strong sense of hierarchy, scolding his subordinates harshly when they talked out of turn.

As such, it's a well-known fact that Scaramouche is not the most well-liked Fatui Harbinger. According to Viktor in Mondstadt, Scaramouche has a difficult personality which even most other Harbingers seem to dislike. Mixed with his over-the-top arrogance and need for authority, Scaramouche is a Fatui Harbinger that most want to avoid if possible.

1 Scaramouche's Life Before The Fatui

Nonetheless, before joining the Fatui, Scaramouche went by another name. Before leaving Inazuma, Scaramouche went by the name "Kunikuzushi" (which means the destroyer of a nation). During this time before joining the Fatui, Scaramouche settled in the sub-region of Tatarasuna.

It was during this time that Scaramouche joined the Nagamasa group, centered around the blacksmith Mikoshi Nagamasa. However, after Scaramouche's friend Katsuragi was slain by Mikoshi Nagamasa, the group effectively disappeared after a duel between Scaramouche and Mikoshi Nagamasa. After this fateful event, Kunikuzushi was taken by the Fatui after some time.
