Popular action RPG Genshin Impact recently received its 3.0 update that revamped the game for another time and since then, players have been discovering new areas, strategies, and hidden details. One Genshin Impact fan has compared the Ruin Drakes with Horizon Zero Dawn machine animals, and there may be some truth to the suggestion.

The mechanical beasts of Horizon Zero Dawn and its sequel Forbidden West each provide a unique challenge to Aloy, and Genshin Impact is full of enemies that require their own strategies. Genshin Impact 3.0 changed Sumeru and has become one of the more populated zones in Teyvat lately as new things have been added to the area such as objectives and enemies. Reddit user D_ronzo17 recently pointed out the similarities between the fresh enemy in Genshin Impact's Sumeru, Ruin Drakes, and their more futuristic counterparts from Horizon Zero Dawn.

D_ronzo17 shared an image that effectively juxtaposes the Ruin Drakes from Genshin Impact with a Thunderjaw and Stormbird which, like other enemies in the Horizon Zero Dawn bestiary, are both based on prehistoric creatures. The player suggests that the Ruin Drakes from Genshin Impact's Sumeru are loosely based on the Horizon Zero Dawn mechanical dinosaurs given the similarities, and they ask others to spot the inspiration, accumulating over 2,000 upvotes in the process. Compared to the two Horizon Zero Dawn robots, Genshin Impact's Ruin Drakes look like a blend of the two as the smaller bird mimics the Stormbird on a smaller scale while having the sturdiness of the Thunderjaw.

Like the two Horizon Zero Dawn beasts, the Genshin Impact enemies are similarly robotic and have coils and canisters along the body, as well as certain details in the creature glow as they snap into action. The addition of Ruin Drakes isn't the first time that Genshin Impact has drawn inspiration from Guerrilla Games' Horizon Zero Dawn as the protagonist from the game, Aloy, has been added to the action RPG as a playable Cryo character in a past collaboration.

A plethora of Reddit users took to D_ronzo17's post comparing Genshin Impact and Horizon Zero Dawn to express agreement that the developers may have been inspired by Guerrilla Games with the Ruin Drakes. Some Genshin Impact fans took the opportunity to lament how much weaker Aloy is in Genshin Impact than she is in Horizon Zero Dawn, while others suggested that the developer has been inspired by other properties like Assassin's Creed, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, The Legend of Zelda, and the anime Zoids in the past.

Genshin Impact is available now for mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5 with a Switch version also in development.
