The graphics in MiHoYo’s multi-platform RPG Genshin Impact are one of the hallmarks of the title, and the various recipes in the game benefit from the stellar visuals. There are nearly a hundred food items in Genshin Impact, and most of them provide some kind of buff for characters, whether it be a damage or attack boost, health or stamina restoration, or even a revive for deceased party members.

Needless to say, the dishes players can cook in the game are appealing enough that some people have been tempted to try their hand at creating them in real life. To that end, a blog called “Teyvat Food Notes” on the official Chinese Genshin Impact website regularly posts recipes for different meals found in the game.

Players don’t need to be able to read Chinese in order to partake in these mouth-watering meals, however. A Genshin Impact player who goes by the name of xmiriee on Reddit has recreated a number of the game’s dishes in real life and has been generous enough to share the recipes online. Everything has been faithfully reproduced from the thumbnails provided in the game: the layout of the dishes, the props used, even the way the portions are cut.

The skilled cook took inspiration not only from the images in Genshin Impact but also from real chefs like Gordon Ramsay. When asked about the recipe for Bennett’s Fried Egg on the checkered blue towel, xmiriee linked to a video on YouTube of the Hell’s Kitchen star demonstrating how to make eggs benedict with ham. Another Reddit user named IssaGrill also shared her real-life recipe for Golden Shrimp Balls back in November, shortly after the game’s launch.

For Genshin Impact fans who would like even more meals from the game translated to their real life versions, another talented food artist called ChefMar has a YouTube channel that so far has demonstrated in detail how to recreate 26 of the game’s recipes. These include many well-known dishes like the difficult-to-find Almond Tofu, Lotus Flower Crisp, Jueyun Chili Chicken, and unique desserts like Mint Jelly.

Genshin Impact isn’t the only title that has inspired artistic foodies to recreate real-life versions of enticing in-game meals. A search on YouTube for “Final Fantasy 15 recipes” will turn up a number of channels filled with interpretations of some of the tantalizing dishes Ignis serves up during the game. The food in Final Fantasy 15 is based off of genuine recipes, and the development team not only used photos to help create the in-game food images, but also cooked all of the recipes in real life on actual camping equipment.

Genshin Impact is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, and will soon be released on Nintendo Switch.
