Raiden Shogun is one of the richest characters when it comes to lore and characterisation in Genshin Impact. With her status as Electro Archon, as well as her long history and many identities linked to the land of Inazuma, it feels like there’s much to be discovered when it comes to her. In this manner, her story quest gives a much-needed insight into the personality of a side that the player sees far less of.
This Genshin Impact guide seeks to walk the player through part one of Raiden Shogun’s story quest, Reflections of Mortality, in the Imperatrix Umbrosa Chapter. Read on for advice on completing the quest, as well as information about different chest locations throughout.
The Lonesome Euthymia
To begin the story quest, head to the Statue of the Omnipresent God in Inazuma City. There, the player will meet and speak to Thoma, Kujou Kamaji, and Ippei, and will overhear their conversation. After learning some key pieces of information about Inazuma from their conversation, including the fact that Raiden Shogun has ‘taken time off’, head over to look for Yae Miko at the Grand Narukami Shrine.
After finding Yae Miko beneath the Sacred Sakura, speak to her. Yae will tell the player about the issues that Raiden Shogun is currently dealing with, explaining that they are the cause of the intense storms surrounding Inazuma. After a short discussion, Yae will hand the Traveler a Pass Permit that will allow the player into the Shogun’s quarters.
Head to the next quest marker on the map. Interact with Takeshi at the entrance of the Shogun’s quarters, and he will eventually let the player through. Head to Tenshukaku to see Raiden Shogun. After an odd conversation with the Shogun, Ei will appear and will allow the player into the Plane of Euthymia, where the Traveller and Ei can continue their conversation.
To Traverse The Mortal Plane
After the Traveler’s discussion with Ei in the first part of her story quest, she will agree to finally leave the Plane of Euthymia alongside the Traveller to go for a walk. There are plenty of optional NPCs to speak to after Ei leaves Euthymia, but it isn’t necessary to complete the quest. All the player has to do is keep pace with Ei as she wanders around Inazuma City, speaking with the Traveler as she walks.
Eventually, Ei will pause at Tomoki’s stall. Talk with Tomoki, and the player will see a cutscene between Ei and Tomoki where she shares an interest in Tomoki’s strange and interesting recipes, specifically Dango Milk.
After stopping at Tomoki’s stall, travel with Ei to the Yae Publishing House and speak to Kuroda. After speaking to him, Ei will tell him that she’d like to read a light novel. It’s then up to the player to pick a light novel for Ei to read. There are three choices that each give individual dialogue choices, but it doesn’t matter which the player decides to choose.
Once the player has picked a light novel, speak to Ei again. The Travller will have to explain the contents of the light novel to Ei, as well as why they have chosen it for her. Again, the player’s choice doesn’t matter — the choices only serve to emphasise the humorous tone of the story quest. After picking a light novel, prepare to take a picture.
The Fabric of Constancy
As mentioned in the previous section, the player will be expected to take a picture of Ei. The player is afforded a large number of options here. After deciding the best spot for a picture, the player can then choose a nice pose for Ei to make. After taking the picture, speak to Ei again. She and the player will fall into a discussion on the picture she’s been given, amongst other things.
After Ei has been given the picture, her conversation with the Traveler is interrupted by the panicked voice of Ippei, who appeared in the first part of the story quest. He’s searching for Kujou Kamaji; follow his voice to find him, and ask him what’s happened. He’ll let the player know that Kujou Kamaji hasn’t returned from talks with another Clan, and will mention that he’s worried.
To Hear Mortal Hearts
The final part of Raiden Shogun’s story quest is a little more dramatic than the previous parts, and is dedicated to fighting and exploring. After speaking to Ippei, head to the Takatsukasa Clan’s secret outpost on Narukami Island. The secret outpost is made up of a Quest Domain; enter the domain, and be sure to build a team around Raiden Shogun to take full advantage of her trial.
Once the player is inside the Domain, head east until a Nobushi enemy is encountered in the hallway to the north. Defeat him and head north until the player reaches the first room. There will be two waves of three enemies to defeat (six in total), all Nobushi enemies. Once they’ve been defeated, check the western wall for a Common Chest.
Continue on, and the player will encounter another enemy Nobushi in the hallway to the north. Once this Nobushi is defeated, find the Exquisite Chest in the hallway. Continue heading north until the player reaches the second room. In this room, there will be four waves of three Nobushi enemies to defeat (twelve in total). After the player has completed all four waves, find the Common Chest near the western wall.
Head north and defeat the enemy Nobushi in the northern hallway. After doing this, Electro panels on the floor will be activated. Continue north into the third room; here, the player will find two Kairagi enemies. One is Electro and the other is Pyro, so make sure to ready a party that can deal with them effectively. After defeating the Kairagi enemies, find the Exquisite Chest on the north-eastern side of the room.
Go straight north, and take the elevator up to the floor above. Before heading into the fourth room, check the western corner of the room to find yet another Common Chest. Once entering room four, a cutscene will begin. After sitting through the cutscene, the player will receive a Precious Chest before exiting the Domain. After exiting the Domain, the Story Quest finishes.
