Genshin Impact fans are happy with the recent character additions claiming that they give more variety to choosing the right team composition. With the recent addition of the new Dendro element, HoYoverse introduced much-needed flexibility when it comes to choosing the right team composition.

The second part of Genshin Impact update 3.1 has introduced a new Hydro character named Nilou who plays an important part in Sumeru's storyline. Players who want to pull for the main star of the Zubayr Theater have a couple of days left as her banner is scheduled to expire at the end of the month.

Reddit user joaofelix9 has started an interesting discussion on the official Genshin Impact subreddit praising HoYoverse's decision to add more niche types of characters like Nilou. It seems like a big part of the community agrees with the majority of the post as it reached over 5.5k upvotes. Fans claim that over the last two years, players have been mainly focused on three or four types of team compositions since they have the largest damage potential. While Nilou can be a decent Hydro applicator that can fit in multiple team comps, her kit revolves around a specific elemental reaction named Bloom.

In order to trigger Bloom, players need to combine Dendro and Hydro which will drop small Dendro Cores that explode after a couple of seconds and deal damage. While the Bloom team comps without Nilou can work fine, her presence takes its damage to the next level. One of the reasons is the fact that her passive talents provide a significant Elemental Mastery buff if players have at least one Hydro and one Dendro character in their party.

However, Nilou's most important Bloom-related strength is her ability to turn the Dendro Cores dropped by Bloom into Bountiful Cores which have a larger area of effect and a lower cooldown. At the moment, the number of any kind of Bloom cores on the field is limited to five, however, the fact that Bountiful Cores have a much lower cooldown means that they can be produced at a much faster pace which results in a higher damage potential.

Nilou's addition also increased the popularity of another five-star character, the Hydro user Sangonomiya Kokomi. She is also a crucial part of the Bloom team comp due to her ability to constantly apply the Hydro element. There is a chance that this type of team composition becomes even more popular with the upcoming release of the Sumeru Archon Nahida. She is a Dendro user who is confirmed to arrive in the upcoming Genshin Impact update 3.2 which is scheduled for November 2.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
