Genshin Impact players were recently treated to an in-depth look at the game's upcoming update, Version 1.2. The patch will include an entirely new region, Dragonspine, together with new domains, quests, characters, weapons, and even events apparently.

As per a recent Version 1.2 Special Livestream Program, Genshin Impact can expect the game's next update to bring forth several new in-game events, one of which is a sequel. Regardless of other features, like The Chalk Prince and the Dragon event, Version 1.2 will allow players to partake in Hypostatic Symphony, Lost Riches, and a Marvelous Merchandise redux.

While the specific dates of each of the events remain unconfirmed, players can be sure that all three will take place while Version 1.2 of the game is in effect. So in other words, beginning on or after December 23, 2020, but probably going no later than late January or February. The events will offer not only new weapons and enemy encounters, but also entirely new mechanics, so they'll offer an interesting complement to the recent Unreconciled Stars event

Though many players may be concerned with summoning the latest Geo character Zhongli, it seems that these upcoming quests will allow the game's player base to collect valuable Ascension Materials that can be used by any character at all. Moreover, they'll introduce players to adorable Mini Seelie, which function as pets, while also bringing back the notorious Liben, who's known for carrying Dragon Balls around on his backpack.

Hypostatic Symphony

The first event covered by the stream, Hypostatic Symphony, promises to pit players against swaths of hypostases, all armed with unique abilities they normally lack. So in other words, players should get ready for a series of combat-heavy challenges against the powerful geometric enemies known as hypostases. They appear in several varieties, each associated with a particular Elemental Vision.

Not much is known about this event, aside from the fact that players will be able to challenge these enhanced hypostases. Normally, these Elite Bosses present players with a series of challenges rather than a straightforward fight, much like the pensive Oceanid boss. The three hypostases featured in the livestream were Pure Geo, Pure Anemo, and Pure Electro Hypostases, named Besanar, Etar, and Siras, respectively. Much like the Oceanid, these bosses evidently feature unique personal names, so it's unsurprising the game's chosen to spotlight them a bit.

Lost Riches

The upcoming Lost Riches event is uniquely exciting because it promises to introduce an entirely new feature by its end: Genshin Impact pets. Mini Seelie will be featured during the event, which tasks players with helping one of the aforementioned spirits locate lost treasures. The player will collect Iron Chunks and Iron Coins throughout the event, and the Coins can be redeemed for prizes from the appropriate Event Shop.

Iron Coins will apparently allow players to purchase three separate bundles of 100 Primogems each, so that in and of itself makes this event noteworthy. Aside from the gems though, players will have access to not only Ascension Materials, but also adorable new Mini Seelie. Players will be able to select one of three Mini Seelie, which can be equipped and set to follow the Traveler around.

Marvelous Merchandise (Pt. 2)

It seems that Liben is just as interested in the upcoming Dragonspine region as players are, because he'll be returning to Teyvat with Version 1.2. The Marvelous Merchandise event will apparently be returning, allowing players to track down Liben across the game's map. Whenever players locate Liben for the first time in a day, he tasks players with a simple foraging challenge, and then rewards them with a Box o' Marvels. Liben will be returning with a twist in Version 1.2, though, as players will now be able to receive rewards from Liben while visiting their friends' worlds. This is particularly exciting because Liben will feature different rewards depending on the player's particular world, so players may want to redeem rewards from a friend's Liben depending on their needs.

These three events only present the tip of the iceberg, as needless to say, surprise additions always work their ways into updates. While players can be sure that these three events will arrive at some point during Version 1.2, they should fully expect other additions to the game as well. Characters like Ganyu and Albedo will be arriving, as will an event featuring Albedo himself, so even if newer content doesn't surface, there will be plenty of new gameplay to work through.

Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for PS5 and Switch.
