  • Genshin Impact confirms two new characters, Neuvillette and Wriothesley, for update 4.1 in the Fontaine region.
  • Neuvillette is a Hydro user described as the "Ordainer of Inexorable Judgment" and will be a catalyst user with scaling HP skills.
  • Wriothesley is a Cryo user who wields a polearm, and there are rumors that he may become part of the Standard Banner after update 4.1.

Genshin Impact has officially confirmed the two new characters that will arrive in update 4.1, which will be the second Fontaine update. Just like was the case with previous region releases, players can expect a lot of new content in the upcoming months.

Recent promotional videos and live stream events have revealed most of the upcoming content including new iconic locations, playable characters, weapons, and unique storylines. Genshin Impact has introduced a pattern of announcing new characters months before they officially join the live servers.

While the three new characters, Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet are yet to officially arrive to the game, Genshin Impact's Twitter account has already shared splash arts for two new characters, Neuvillette and Wriothesley. This confirms that both of these characters will arrive in Genshin Impact update 4.1 which is expected to arrive at the end of September. The two were already featured in multiple promo videos in Fontaine which means that their storylines will be tied to the Hydro nation. Neuvillette's official bio describes him as the "Ordainer of Inexorable Judgment Iudex of Fontaine". When it comes to his weapon type, the post confirmed that he will be a new Hyrdro user.

Recent leaks have revealed that Neuvillette will be a catalyst user and he will apparently fill the role of a main DPS. His kit will also allow him to be an off-field support, similar to Yae Miko or Fischl. The fact that a lot of his skills scale with HP means that players will need to prioritize this stat when creating the optimal build for Neuvillette. The second character, Wriothesley, has also been mentioned in countless rumors over the last couple of months.

The Twitter post confirmed previous leaks about Wriothesley being a Cryo user. He will be using the polearm as his primary weapon and players seen excited to see another Cryo polearm character in the roster. When it comes to their rarity, both characters are expected to be five-star units. Credible leakers have been hinting that Wriothesley could become part of the Standard Banner once update 4.1 ends.

This would not be the first time HoYoverse placed a limited five-star character on the Standard Banner after their Limited Banner ended as both Tighnari and Dehya went through the same process. So far, HoYoverse did reveal any additional playable units which means that update 4.1 will probably not feature any four-star characters.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
