Currently, Genshin Impact is one of the most-played games in the world. The title also earns an insane amount of revenue, regaining its development cost only a few weeks after its release.

Obviously, Genshin Impact deserves a lot of credit for its success. Not only does it have appealing characters, graphics, and combat systems, but the game also has a top-tier soundtrack that should be an industry standard. It's not at all strange that many players would vibe to the music, given how well done it is. For fans who love Genshin Impact's soundtrack, here are some things they may not know about it.

9 MiHoYo Has An In-House Music Team

For their music production, miHoYo has their in-house music team, the HOYO-MiX. This department was founded back in 2011, long before Genshin Impact's release in 2020. Of course, this is not at all puzzling. Before Genshin Impact, miHoYo had made other games; Guns Girl Z and Honkai Impact 3rd. Both are set in the same miHoYo multiverse.

As for Genshin Impact, while the storyline is not related, a small teaser in HI3 shows that Teyvat too is a part of the same multiverse.

Yu-Peng Chen Is A Renowned Artist

When it comes to Genshin music, Yu-Peng Chen is a familiar name for many. However, what most may not know is that this composer has a long portfolio. He has worked on music for films, TV series, and video games, making a name for himself in the industry.

All that effort, of course, didn't go to waste. In December 2020, Genshin Impact came in as the first runner-up for the PlayStation Game Music Award. This adds to the game's long list of awards, like App Store's iPhone Game of the Year (2020), Google Play's Best Game of 2020, and TapTap Game's Game of the Year (2020).

7 We All Know Yu-Peng Chen, But There's Also Zoe Cai

Yu-Peng Chen's name is attached to every Genshin Impact soundtrack, both as composer and producer. However, the same can't be said about Zoe Cai. Zoe Cai is the Music Director and leader of the HOYO-MiX, making him one of the most significant people in the making of Genshin Impact's soundtrack.

While he wasn't credited for composing in Genshin Impact, Zoe Cai is the core composer for Honkai Impact 3rd's music. HI3 was released in 2016 in China, five years after the founding of HOYO-MiX itself.

6 Collaborated With Artists Around The World

Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra preforming at the Tokyo opera city concert hall

Around the time of their anniversary, Genshin Impact held an online concert for music fans to enjoy. Unfortunately, it didn't get the hype it deserves as the fanbase was unhappy with the anniversary rewards. However, for those who are up to it, the concert is available to watch on YouTube. The event features talents from the United States, Belgium, and South Korea.

Of course, this isn't the first time miHoYo collaborated with artists around the world. For their regional theme, HOYO-MiX collaborated with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.

5 They Release Soundtrack Albums Every Now And Then

One time, leakers released datamined music from Genshin Impact. A while after, Yu-Peng Chen requested fans not to listen to them. He explained that he doesn't want people to hear Demo samples that haven't been recorded/mixed yet.

This has been their stance even before the game's release. In a Developer Insight back in June 2020, Zoe Cai and Yu-Peng Chen said that the music in beta is not a final version. For example, the current Dusk Login music (yes, the one that gives you chill) wasn't the same BGM that was used in the beta.

4 Current Album Count

Genshin Impact's city of winds and idylls

Currently, Genshin Impact's Original Soundtracks can be bought digitally or streamed for free on YouTube and Spotify. For the digital version, Genshin Impact now has seven albums, 311 tracks, and 16 discs in total. Meanwhile, the physical version is an exclusive collectible. For instance, an Original Soundtrack Gift Box: Mondstadt "City of Winds and Idylls" is available for purchase.

New albums are usually released along with available areas. For example, there's an album for OST of Liyue, Mondstadt, Dragonspine, Golden Apple Archipelago, and Inazuma. At times, they also release an album that compiles original compositions for new characters.

3 Rex Incognito Is One Of The Fan's Favourite

When it comes to the original composition for new characters, it's no doubt that Zhongli's Demo is one of the best. Every time a new character is released, his Character Demo continuously gets more views. This is because fans tend to compare the new Soundtrack to Zhongli's. So far, none has dethroned the Geo Archon.

Among all the Character Demos, Zhongli's Rex Incognito has the most YouTube views (24 million as of December 2021). Meanwhile, in Spotify, Rex Incognito also takes the top spot with 10 million plays (December 2021).

2 Azhdaha's Boss Theme Features Ancient Chinese Lyrics

Genshin Impact's OSTs are usually full music with no words involved. However, Azhdaha's boss theme includes lyrics, and that too, in Ancient Chinese. This singing may be vague, however, as the music of the theme is so epic that the lyrics are clouded by it.

Nevertheless, fans shouldn't miss out on this hidden art. If Travelers choose to dive deep into the words, they'll find that the epic theme tells the tale of Azhdaha's erosion over the years of isolation, and his anger toward Morax, the Geo Archon.

1 Signora's Boss Theme Features Latin Lyrics

la Signora in her crimson witch of flame state

Similar to Azhdaha's, the Crimson Witch's battle song also includes fiery lyrics. However, unlike the Chinese-themed Azhdaha, Rosalyne hails from Mondstadt (Europe-inspired). So this time, her boss theme is sung in Latin. Just like Childe, Signora also has two stages in her battle; Delusion and Vision phase. Each has different lyrics.

The song tells the story of how La Signora joins the Fatui, becoming a loyal subject to one of the Gods (Archons), Tsaritsa. And how the Crimson Witch would burn everything to defeat her enemies.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
