The world of Genshin Impact continues to expand, with regular updates adding new zones, bosses, and loot to miHoYo's gacha-based RPG. Inazuma, the latest nation to be added to Genshin Impact, has been growing rapidly over the last few months, and now includes six separate islands.

Yashiori Island, which is one of the islands of the Inazuman archipelago, is home to one of the game's strangest bosses; Maguu Kenki, also known as Ingenious Machine: Marionette Swordmaster, is a sword-fighting construct that only seems to be able to communicate through combat. Maguu Kenki is a tough boss, but an essential one for players trying to level up Kazuha or Sayu.

Before players can take on Maguu Kenki, they'll first need to find it. Yashiori Island is the third island that most players will reach while exploring Inazuma, and is only unlocked after players have advanced the main story enough. Maguu Kenki can be found on the south side of the island, between Jakotsu Mine and the Serpent's Head.

Unlike a few of Genshin Impact's bosses, there is no quest to unlock Maguu Kenki. Instead, players can challenge the Ingenious Machine simply by entering its boss arena. When it comes to choosing a team, players should bring their best rather than focus on or avoid any elements in particular. This is because Maguu Kenki is one of very few Genshin Impact bosses that has no particular resistances, meaning any kind of damage will be effective, though melee characters will have an easier time.

Maguu Kenki Boss Strategy

Despite its lack of Genshin Impact's elemental resistances, Maguu Kenki can still be a tough battle for the unprepared. Throughout the fight, players should pay attention to its Oni mask: A plain mask will block all ranged attacks, a mask with glowing green and red eyes is about to charge forward, and a mask that is circling the player will soon explode.

While Maguu Kenki has above 75% HP, it will exclusively deal physical damage, but once it has fallen below 75%, it will start using new Anemo and Cryo attacks. In the first stage, players only really need to worry about its charge attack, which is foreshadowed by it sheathing its sword, and can be evaded by dodging to the side.

In the second stage of the Maguu Kenki boss fight, it will use an extremely powerful attack where it drives its sword into the ground. This must either be avoided by retreating, or evaded by dodging just as the sword hits the ground. It will also use an upgraded version of its charge, as well as a new ability to summon a phantom to repeat its strikes, making it very dangerous for players to remain in close-combat.

Finally, it will teleport frequently and project wind blades that can cross the entire arena, requiring Bow and Catalyst characters to be ready to dodge at all times. Players who time their dodges well and strike between Maguu Kenki's larger attacks should be able to easily dispatch the Ingenious Machine.
