The world of Genshin Impact is filled with legendary stories that go back thousands of years before the game's current timeline. One of the fan-favorite stories is the tale about the five legendary beasts known as the five Yaksha.

Each Genshin Impact update has a beta phase which reveals a big part of the game's upcoming content. A post on the popular Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit hints that players are about to go deeper into the Yaksha story.

The leak shows an in-game screenshot of the five legendary Yakshas. They are known as ruthless and skilled warriors who had no mercy on the battlefield while trying to keep peace around Teyvat. They were gathered by the Morax, also known as the Geo Archon, to fight the monsters that appeared after the great Archon War. However, after many years of fighting, their mental states broke which caused them to turn on each other. Even though they are one of the most popular topics in the Genshin Impact community, there are not a lot of information about the five Yakshas. At the moment, the Anemo user Xiao is the only Yaksha who playable roster.

The screenshot is probably a throwback to the times when the five Yakshas got along with each other. Players will likely be able to go deeper into the story in the upcoming Genshin Impact Version 2.8, which is expected to arrive around mid-August. The hype surrounding the upcoming Yaksha story could be one of the reasons why developer HoYoverse unexpectedly announced a banner re-run for Xiao.

Multiple replies in the comment section claim that developer HoYoverse should make a prequel to Genshin Impact and go back to the Archon War. By doing so, they could revive all the legends that passed away like the original Genshin Impact Archons, the other Yakshas, or Raiden Shogun's long-lost friends.

The game's official social media accounts have already confirmed the arrival of a brand-new Genshin Impact character for the upcoming Version 2.8. His name is Shikanoin Heizou, and he is a mysterious detective from Inazuma who's known for having his own way of investigating. The most interesting thing about Heizou is the fact that he will be the first male Catalyst in the game. However, recent beta leaks have revealed that despite using the Catalyst, he still prefers close combat fighting.

Genshin Impact is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is currently in development with no confirmed release date.
