A recent in-development leak from Genshin Impact gives some of the first in-game details about the game's next major region, Fontaine. The massively popular RPG from HoYoVerse has regularly added new locations to the game with annual updates introducing major new regions. 2021's Version 2.0 Update saw the addition of the Japan-inspired archipelago of Inazuma while the game introduced the rainforests and desert of Sumeru earlier this year. With Version 4.0 presumed to come sometime during 2023 with the Fontaine region, a new leak has revealed some early details about Fontaine.

The newest Genshin Impact leak from trusted leaker Blank gives some hints about things players should expect to see from the Hydro Archon's region. Blank mentions Fontaine as having "hyperspeed vessels" likely tied to the region's supposedly advanced technology, compared to other regions in Teyvat. Blank also mentions some of the wildlife players will see in Fontaine with barnacles and clamshells mentioned, featuring more aquatic life in Genshin Impact. No assets from Fontaine have been leaked yet with Fontaine's full release likely to be nearly a year away.

While finer details aren't given, Blank also mentions the addition of underwater mechanics coming with the Fontaine region. Underwater gameplay would be a first for Genshin Impact with the game currently only allowing players to swim at the surface of the game's many bodies of water. It remains to be seen if the underwater mechanics would be for specific domains/areas within Fontaine or a diving system players could use across the entirety of Genshin Impact. Fontaine featuring water-based puzzles would follow Genshin Impact's trend of regional element-based puzzles.

The newest batch of Fontaine leaks comes as part of a massive leak that has seen several details related to upcoming content in Genshin Impact. New leaks for Genshin Impact have already revealed an artifact set coming to Genshin Impact during Version 3.3, scheduled to launch in December. Recent leaks have also given plenty of information about the game's upcoming characters, including long-awaited fan-favorites like Scaramouche and Baizhu. New regions, like expansions to Sumeru's desert and a new village in Liyue, are also rumored to be coming to the game.

While Genshin Impact's leaks have revealed new content coming far in the future, HoYoVerse has recently given players a look at what to expect in next month's Version 3.2. Genshin Impact's Version 3.2 Special Program revealed two new bosses coming to the game with the Dendro Hypostasis as a new world boss and The Balladeer as a weekly boss. Two new characters will also be arriving to Genshin Impact in Version 3.2, the Dendro Archon Nahida and the Cryo Akademiya student Layla. Between Version 3.2 and leaks of future content, Genshin Impact looks to have plenty of exciting additions coming soon.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
