According to the leak, Alhaitham and Yoimiya will finally become playable units in the following months and the popular Pyro polearm user Hu Tao will get her first re-run after missing 10 consecutive updates. Alhaitham has played a very important part in the current Sumeru storyline, and he is expected to be a DPS unit. The official storyline has confirmed that he has the ability to control the Dendro element which means that he will be the second five-star Dendro DPS after Tighnari.

Alhaitham is a mysterious member of the Sumeru Akademiya who is known for his high intellect which allows him to bend other people to his own will. Players hope that he is placed on the second banner cycle which will allow him to gather the right amount of Primogems for his release. The other new character, Yaoyao, has been mentioned in numerous rumors over the last two years as she was part of the original beta version of the game.

Unlike Alhaitham, Yaoyao is expected to have a lower four-star rarity which means that two characters could arrive on the same banner. She is expected to be the first Dendro healer in Genshin Impact with a kit that is similar to the Anemo user Sayu. Her four-star rarity led many players to believe that Yaoyao could be obtainable for free during the Lantern Rite Festival which is expected to arrive in 3.4.

Even though the release of a new character is the focal point of every Genshin Impact update, fans seem to be just as excited about Hu Tao's re-run. Despite being one of the most popular characters in Genshin Impact, Hu Tao only had one banner re-run after her initial release date back in March 2021.

Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
