The world of Genshin Impact is jam-packed with breathtaking landscapes spread over four major regions that are currently unlocked. After the Inazuma arc came to an end, developer HoYoverse finally introduced a new main nation to the game, the mysterious land of Sumeru.

Recent rumors have been hinting that after exploring the depths of Sumeru's rainforests, Genshin Impact is taking the Traveler to the game's first desert in the upcoming update. Even though there's a ton of hype about the new major region, HoYoverse seems to be making some additional adjustments to one of the most iconic older places in the world of Genshin Impact, the floating island known Celestia that can be seen from almost any place in Teyvat.

Even though developer HoYoverse is yet to confirm its precise location, Celestia can be seen northwest of Liyue's Qingyun Peak and west of Mondstadt's Stormterror's Liar which means that it shouldn't be that far away from Liyue. A new post on the popular Genshin Impact Leaks subReddit has revealed a more detailed model of Celestia which should arrive in one of the upcoming updates. At the moment, the game uses a tilted 2D transparent image to represent the floating island which makes it seem almost horizontal when looking from specific locations like the Stormterror's Liar.

Replacing a 2D image with a 3D model will certainly make the island look far more realistic. According to multiple replies in the comment section, the recent map extension is probably the main reason why HoYoverse is looking to replace the current model of the floating island. The new Sumeru region is placed south of Liyue, and it's expected to spread southwest in the upcoming updates when Genshin Impact's first deserts arrive.

Being that far away from the current tilted 2D image would probably make the floating island look even more unrealistic. The official storyline has been hinting that Celestia might be the residence of the gods and mortals who prove themselves worthy can ascend to godhood. Players expect the mysterious character that appears in Genshin Impact's very first fight to be located in Celestia.

While some comments started speculating that Celestia might arrive in the foreseeable future, numerous fans claim that it will take years before players step foot on the floating island. The new Celestia model will probably only serve as a placeholder until HoYoverse decides to introduce it as a new playable region. Multiple replies have stated that this mysterious location will probably be saved for the end of Genshin Impact's official storyline.

Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, and a Nintendo Switch version is in development.
