Kirara makes her debut as the latest addition to the Dendro user roster in Genshin Impact's version 3.7 update. Her kit includes shielding abilities and burst-DPS support properties. Additionally, she offers a unique take on exploration and travel by transforming herself when her Elemental Skill is held, increasing her climbing and movement speed. This feature alone makes her an excellent team companion, but there's more to her than meets the eye.

Especially with additional constellations, Kirara's functionality as a support character significantly improves, making her a valuable addition to various team compositions in Genshin Impact. While many teams do not rely solely on her, fans of Kirara can easily incorporate her into their teams, especially as a support character, as she does not require the entire team to be built around her. However, building her as a spread DPS character is not strongly recommended, as it would reduce her versatility and make her more challenging to optimize. Instead, players can rely on her as a well-rounded support character with a primary focus on shielding, making her a valuable companion for characters like Nilou, Alhaitham, Raiden Shogun, and many others. Typically, she can fit into team compositions that utilize a main DPS and sub-DPS. While having a healer can also be helpful, it is not necessary.

5 Kirara + Yae Miko + Alhaitham + Kuki Shinobu

Genshin Impact - Kirara + Alhaitham + Yae Miko + Kuki Shinobu
  • Kirara: Shielder, Burst-Support, Dendro Enabler
  • Yae Miko: Sub-DPS, Electro Enabler
  • Alhaitham: Main DPS, Dendro Enabler
  • Kuki Shinobu: Healer, Electro Enabler

The primary function of this team is to utilize and spread reactions as effectively as possible, featuring two Dendro and two Electro characters with consistent application. While Alhaitham is a selfish DPS character that requires being on the field for most of the battle, fortunately, characters like Yae Miko, Kuki Shinobu, and Kirara have simple skills with long off-field durations, allowing Alhaitham to focus on DPS without much interruption.

Considering that Kirara is debuting alongside Yae Miko and Yoimiya as the 5-star characters in her banner, players may have the chance to obtain Yae Miko and try them out together. Alternatively, players can also opt for Fischl as the sub-DPS instead of Yae Miko, as well as Raiden Shogun instead of Kuki Shinobu if their Kirara is built well to enable strong shields and they do not require a healer.

4 Kirara + Raiden Shogun + Nahida + Kokomi

Genshin Impact - Kirara + Raiden Shogun + Nahida + Kokomi
  • Kirara: Shielder, Burst-Support, Dendro Enabler
  • Raiden Shogun: Sub-DPS, Electro Enabler
  • Nahida: Sub-DPS, Dendro Enabler
  • Kokomi: Healer, Hydro Enabler

Players who are interested in a hyperbloom team and enjoy quick swapping between characters without relying solely on one DPS may find this composition enjoyable. All of the characters in this composition can benefit from their on-field time relatively well without being disrupted when they are not active. As a result, players can consistently generate Dendro cores with the help of Kokomi, Nahida, and Kirara, and easily utilize Raiden Shogun to transform and explode them. Kirara's shielding ability becomes particularly handy in this situation, as the Dendro core explosion can harm the active character, and Kirara can prevent excessive damage. Players can also opt for another Hydro applier, such as Yelan or Xingqiu, if they wish to do so.

3 Kirara + Nilou + Nahida + Xingqiu

Genshin Impact - Kirara + Nilou + Nahida + Xingqiu
  • Kirara: Shielder, Burst-Support, Dendro Enabler
  • Nilou: Sub-DPS, Hydro Enabler
  • Nahida: Sub-DPS, Dendro Enabler
  • Xingqiu: Sub-DPS, Hydro Enabler

Being a Dendro character, Kirara is a suitable companion for Nilou, who requires a niche team composition featuring Hydro and Dendro characters to enable Bountiful Dendro cores. Even without any constellations, Kirara can still be useful in this team composition thanks to her shielding abilities, which further complement Xingqiu's damage reduction and limited healing capabilities alongside his primary function as a Hydro enabler.

Additionally, Kirara's fourth constellation can help increase the team's Dendro application and create more consistent Dendro cores, while her sixth constellation can enhance the elemental damage application, further boosting the team's damage potential. Alternatively, players may choose to have Nahida on the field primarily and utilize her auto-attacks for a more consistent Dendro application, especially when facing multiple waves of enemies in content like Spiral Abyss or certain in-game events.

2 Kirara + Kaveh + Kazuha + Yelan

Genshin Impact - Kirara + Kaveh + Kazuha + Yelan
  • Kirara: Shielder, Burst-Support, Dendro Enabler
  • Kaveh: Main-DPS, Dendro Enabler
  • Kazuha: Buffer, De-buffer, Crowd Control, Elemental driver
  • Yelan: Sub-DPS, Hydro Enabler

Players who don't have access to Nilou but instead want to utilize Kaveh for bloom reactions can still benefit from including Kirara in their team, along with other party members such as Kazuha and Yelan. Unlike Nilou, Kaveh doesn't have the same strict duo element requirement, allowing for more flexibility in team composition. Kirara can synergize well with Kaveh by providing additional Dendro application and shielding capabilities, even though Kaveh himself doesn't necessarily require a very defensive playstyle due to his self-healing potential. Together with Yelan, they can easily generate Dendro cores and further enhance the team's damage potential. Additionally, Kazuha's buffs to allies and debuffs on enemies, along with his ability to pull enemies and Dendro cores, can greatly assist Kaveh's AoE capabilities.

1 Kirara + Ayato + Xiangling + Kuki Shinobu

Genshin Impact - Kirara + Ayato + Xiangling + Kuki Shinobu
  • Kirara: Shielder, Burst-Support, Dendro Enabler
  • Ayato: Main-DPS, Hydro Enabler
  • Xiangling: Sub-DPS, Pyro Enabler
  • Kuki Shinobu: Healer, Electro Enabler

Players who want to primarily utilize Kirara without a specific preference for elemental reactions and aim for an all-round team that doesn't rely solely on strong Dendro application can focus on this versatile team composition. This composition incorporates a variety of elements, allowing for the activation of elemental reactions such as Burgeon, Hyperbloom, Vaporize, and Overload. It provides the flexibility to swap characters based on what players have access to, such as using Bennett instead of Xiangling or Raiden Shogun instead of Kuki Shinobu. With this approach, players can create a team that suits their play style, featuring their favorite characters in a well-rounded composition that covers different party roles and is suitable for various challenging content.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
