Kamisato Ayato is the head of the Kamisato Clan and the older brother of Kamisato Ayaka. In previous versions of Genshin Impact, Ayato has always been a mysterious character that was only mentioned but never seen. Thankfully, thanks to the Cypressus Custos Chapter, players can now get a more in-depth view of the identity of Kamisato Ayato, though they will need to meet several conditions before they can access the Story Quest.
Kamisato Ayato’s Cypressus Custos Chapter - Act I Story Quest Walkthrough
Ayato’s Story Quest starts with the Traveler bumping into Ippei and Shinnojou near Ogura Textiles & Kimonos in Inazuma City.
After chatting for a bit, it turns out that both of them were picking up a few fabrics for an upcoming event in Kujou Estate and Hiiragi Estate. This leads to the speculations that there’s a wedding.
New Shoots from Old Branches - Kamisato Ayato's Story Quest Act I
To verify the theory, the group travels to the Kamisato Estate. Upon entering the Yashiro Commission Headquarters, Thoma seems to be playing chess with another Genshin Impact character that turns out to be Kamisato Ayato.
Ayato affirms that there’s actually a wedding that’s taking place soon. After that, the Kamisato Head suggests going together with the Traveler to congratulate the bride and groom. Upon confirming the news to Ippei and Shinnojou, the group then proceeds to the Kujou Clan.
In the marked area, the Traveler and Ayato chat with the Kujou Clan head Kujou Kamaji, the groom. After some time, Genshin Impact Kamisato Ayato asks about Kamaji’s plan concerning the wedding timing since Chisato’s father, Hiiragi Shinsuke, is in prison.
Kamaji says that since Chisato hinted at the marriage in one of her letters, he didn’t have the heart to disappoint her. However, it seems that when Kamaji confronted her, she denied writing the letter and her lover took it as her being coy.
This information seemed suspicious, so the Kamisato Head travels to Ritou with the Traveler to hear Chisato’s point of view. However, upon arriving, the representatives greet them and say that meeting the Hiiragi Head is impossible as she is entertaining a guest. Nonetheless, Ayato decides to pass some time in Ritou with the Traveler until Chisato is done. They end up drinking different milk combinations while discussing the situation.
The Commissioner reveals that he’s feeling uneasy about the situation in the Hiiragi Clan. Since Chisato’s father is in jail, that means she’s the last pillar of her clan and if she were to marry, that support will disappear. This leads to Ayato sending Hisashi, a Shuumatsuban, to keep an eye on the Hirragi’s representatives.
After talking with Hirragi Chisato, it turns out that she didn’t write the letter and is also worried about her current predicament, as Shinnojou talked with her before them and told her not to get married to prevent the Hiiragi Clan from falling. After talking for a bit, Ayato congratulates her and tells her to think carefully about the marriage.
Upon leaving the estate, Hisashi appears and informs the group that Shinnojou was kidnapped, confirming Ayato’s suspicion.
The Truth Is Also a Lie - Kamisato Ayato's Story Quest Act I
To begin with, players should teleport to Araumi Waypoint and head southwest to the cave where Shinnojou is being locked up. Here, Genshin Impact players have the chance to use Kamisato Ayato while fighting the enemies.
After that, a Bake-Danuki appears and steals the cage key, and it’s up to the players to catch it. The creature will disguise itself three times:
- The first is a pile of rocks that can be found near the cage
- The second is a crate that’s in front of the wooden cage
- The last is by the small shrine at the end of the cave
After finding it, the Genshin Impact Key will be on the floor and Shinnojou can now be freed.
Upon leaving the cave, the group encounters Matsuura, one of the representatives, who says that Ayato is meddling too much and that the news has already been spread around Inazuma.
After parting ways, the Kamisato Head proceeds to the Kujou Estate and plans alongside Kamaji to stop the wedding before it’s too late. Both agree to turn Chisato into an asset so that Matsuura won’t have a choice but to back off.
Soon after, the Shuumatsuban reveals that he found one of Matsuura’s spies lurking around Inazuma. Kamisato Ayato and the Traveler agree that it’s the perfect time to follow the spy as he confirms the representative's fears by being fed false rumors. While trailing the underling, players should make sure to stick close to him, as he tends to run off occasionally.
As the spy runs to inform his master of the false intel, Ayato tells the Traveler to wait for two days since the plan needs time to take action. To fast-forward the time, players can use the clock in Paimon’s Menu.
The Wind Settles - Kamisato Ayato's Story Quest Act I
After two days, players have to travel to Ritou and eavesdrop on people's conversations until they arrive at the Hirragi Estate and speak with Chisato.
Later on, while conversing, Matsuura appears and starts accusing the Travelers, but Chisato stops him and orders him to talk with other representatives and reflect on their actions. Here, Chisato is proud of herself as it’s the first time she made her own choice.
Matsuura comes back regretful and agrees to meet Kamisato Ayato to apologize formally. The group travel to the Kamisato Estate, where Matsuura admits that Chisato is an important asset then asks for forgiveness and promises to clean up the mess.
The chapter ends with Ayato telling Chisato a personal story from when he first became head of the family when he and his sister, Genshin Impact's Kamisato Ayaka, were very young.
Players will be rewarded with 60 Primogems once the Story Quest is complete.
Genshin Impact is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is currently in development.
