The upcoming collab with Horizon Zero Dawn is the first time Genshin Impact will cross over with properties outside of the miHoYo umbrella. Genshin Impact has enjoyed massive popularity since its 2020 release, to the point that it has topped the list of trending Twitter gaming conversations. It comes as no surprise that other companies would want to share the spotlight. And with Genshin Impact becoming an established part of the PS4/PS5 library, Sony surely saw an opportunity to promote its upcoming Horizon Forbidden West project.
How to Get Aloy in Genshin Impact
Aloy will become available during a promotional event period when Version 2.1 adds the playable character Baal to Genshin Impact. During the event, players who have reached Adventure Rank 20 or higher will be able to claim Aloy for free via in-game mail.
The Horizon Zero Dawn collaboration event will roll out in two phases:
- Phase 1 - Starts with the release of the Version 2.1 update and lasts until the release of the Version 2.2 update. During this period, only players who log into Genshin Impact on PS4 or PS5 can claim Aloy.
- Phase 2 - Starts with the release of the Version 2.2 update and lasts until the release of the Version 2.3 update. During this period, players who log onto Genshin Impact on any platform can claim Aloy if they did not claim her during Phase 1.
Fans can expect Genshin Impact Version 2.1 to launch on September 1, 2021. Version 2.3 is scheduled to release on November 24. This means that there will be more than two months during which Aloy will be available. Gamers who want to play as the Horizon Forbidden West hero in the world of Teyvat will have plenty of time to make sure they claim this special character before she becomes unavailable.
Aloy will be a 5-star character in Genshin Impact. 5-star characters usually require extreme luck or deep pockets to get, but fans can claim this one for free during the event period. Aloy will be a Cryo bow-user, which could make her valuable for certain party compositions. Players who missed out on the other popular 5-star Cryo bow-user Ganyu might find some solace when they add Aloy to their roster.
