Ganyu in Genshin Impact was released with a small controversy, with many claims that this unit is a power creep. In some ways, the claim is rather true, considering up until now, Ganyu is still one of the best DPS characters in the game.
The Qilin’s ease of use, powerful team composition, and low-demand equipment easily cause her to rise as one of the community’s favorites. Additionally, with how long the game has been going, many players would likely have gotten Amos’ Bow unplanned. When this happens, getting Ganyu seems like a reasonable move. But other than Amos’ Bow, here are some other best weapons for Ganyu in Genshin Impact.
9 Hamayumi
- Primary Stat: 454 ATK
- Secondary Stat: 55.1% ATK
- R5 Effect: Increases Normal Attack DMG by 32% and Charged Attack DMG by 24%. When the equipping character's Energy reaches 100%, this effect is increased by 100%.
Hamayumi is a forgeable weapon in Genshin Impact, and its passive is almost perfect for Ganyu, where she can gain up to 48% Charged Attack DMG bonus. However, apart from this, Hamayumi doesn’t enhance the rest of Ganyu’s kit.
8 Prototype Crescent
- Primary Stat: 510 ATK
- Secondary Stat: 41.3% ATK
- R5 Effect: Charged Attack hits on weak points increase Movement SPD by 10% and ATK by 72% for 10s.
Prototype Crescent is also a forgeable weapon in Genshin Impact. It has a very simple and straightforward ability, at least on paper. In practice, though, players can only maximize this bow’s potential if they’re adept at attacking weak points. For enemies that have no weak points, Crescent is less effective.
In conclusion, there are some cases where Hamayumi is better than Prototype Crescent.
7 Blackcliff Warbow
- Primary Stat: 565 ATK
- Secondary Stat: 36.8% CRIT DMG
- R5 Effect: After defeating an opponent, ATK is increased by 24% for 30s. This effect has a maximum of 3 stacks, and the duration of each stack is independent of the others.
Blackcliff Warbow is also a F2P weapon in Genshin Impact, so it’s awesome to know that it’s arguably her best 4-star option. Since Ganyu mostly plays as the main DPS, activating Blackcliff Warbow’s passive would be trivial for her. One thing players need to note, though, is that Blackcliff weapons’ performance drops massively if the passive is neglected.
6 Thundering Pulse
- Primary Stat: 608 ATK
- Secondary Stat: 66.2% CRIT DMG
- Effect: Increases ATK by 20% and grants the might of the Thunder Emblem. At stack levels 1/2/3, the Thunder Emblem increases Normal Attack DMG by 12/24/40%. The character will obtain 1 stack of Thunder Emblem in each of the following scenarios: Normal Attack deals DMG (stack lasts 5s), casting Elemental Skill (stack lasts 10s); Energy is less than 100% (stack disappears when Energy is full). Each stack's duration is calculated independently.
Since Ganyu excels when using her Charged Attack and won’t be using her Normal Attack in Genshin Impact, most of Thundering Pulse’s passive is basically useless for her. Nevertheless, the weapon is an amazing stat-stick and can still bring Ganyu to a higher level compared to some 4-star equipment.
5 Skyward Harp
- Primary Stat: 674 Base ATK
- Secondary Stat: 22.1% CRIT Rate
- Effect: Increases CRIT DMG by 20%. Hits have a 60% chance to inflict a small AoE attack, dealing 125% Physical ATK DMG. Can only occur once every 4s.
Skyward Harp and Thundering Pulse in Genshin Impact are pretty much on the same level for Ganyu. However, unlike with Thundering Pulse, Ganyu can fully benefit from Skyward Harp’s passive. One downside is that the Qilin may or may not need Crit Rate, as she can gain the stat from other sources (like Cryo Resonance or 4pc Blizzard Strayer).
4 Polar Star
- Primary Stat: 608 Base ATK
- Secondary Stat: 33.1% CRIT Rate
- Effect: Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst DMG increased by 12%. After a Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Elemental Skill, or Elemental Burst hits an opponent, 1 stack of Ashen Nightstar will be gained for 12s. When 1/2/3/4 stacks of Ashen Nightstar are present, ATK is increased by 10/20/30/48%. The stack of Ashen Nightstar created by the Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Elemental Skill, or Elemental Burst will be counted independently of the others.
Polar Star focuses more on Skill and Burst rather than Charged Attack damage, but its ATK-granting passive is one that shouldn’t be ignored. This is one of the best options if players wish to play Ganyu as a sub-DPS in Genshin Impact instead of the main DPS.
3 Hunter's Path
- Primary Stat: 542
- Secondary Stat: 44.1% CRIT Rate
- Effect: +12% all Elemental DMG bonus. After using Charged Attack, increase the next 12 Charged Attack DMG by 160% of Elemental Mastery. The effect will last for 10s and can be triggered every 12s.
Hunter’s Path’s passive is quite awkward for Ganyu since she doesn’t really use Elemental Mastery, but if players choose to play the Qilin in a Melt comp, then Hunter’s Path rises up in viability.
2 Aqua Simulacra
- Primary Stat: 542 Base ATK
- Secondary Stat: 88.2% CRIT DMG
- Effect: HP is increased by 16%. When there are opponents nearby, the DMG dealt by the wielder of this weapon is increased by 20%. This will take effect whether or not the character is on-field.
Aqua Simulacra may have a low base ATK (an important stat for Ganyu), but the massive Crit DMG sub-stat and its universal DMG Bonus easily make up for it. Aqua Simulacra is especially deadly if players are playing the Permafreeze Morgana comp in Genshin Impact, as Ganyu can neglect Crit Rate completely there.
1 Amos' Bow
- Primary Stat: 608 Base ATK
- Secondary Stat: 49.6% ATK%
- Effect: Increases Normal Attack and Charged Attack DMG by 12%. After a Normal or Charged Attack is fired, DMG dealt increases by a further 8% every 0.1 seconds the arrow is in the air for up to 5 times.
Amos’ Bow viability in Genshin Impact continues to deteriorate as newer bows are released. Luckily, though, while it has been outshined for many other characters, Amos’ Bow is still a reliable companion for Ganyu. This standard-banner weapon is still one of the best for her, although other top bows are pretty much on-par with it.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
