Gaming is a strong 4-star unit in Genshin Impact. With his ability to easily jump higher than other characters through his Elemental Skill, Gaming can continuously Plunge attack his way to carry the team’s damage. He’s also very compatible with some of the Fontaine characters and artifacts that perform better with units that lose and gain HP during combat.
Genshin Impact: Xianyun Build Guide
On top of enabling Plunge attack, Xianyun's supportive ability comes with healing, allowing Genshin Impact players to focus more on damage.
Gaming’s mechanics are somewhat close to Xiao since it depends on his Plunge attacks. However, Gaming’s playstyle is a little more complicated since you want him to trigger Vaporize or Melt on each one of his Plunge attacks. So, to avoid any misfortunes when playing him, here are some of the mistakes players might make when playing Gaming in Genshin Impact.
6 Ignoring His Normal Attacks
Since his Charmed Cloudstrider Plunge attack comes from his Elemental Skill, some players might prioritize his Elemental Skill over his Normal attack, and some may even completely neglect it. While it’s correct to prioritize Gaming’s Elemental Skill over his Normal attacks, you still need to level it up to improve his DPS.
As a carry, Gaming will spend most of his time on the field. When his Elemental Burst is activated, Gaming must remain on the field for its duration to trigger his Plunge attacks every few seconds. So before he gets his Plunge attack back, he needs to do something. That something can’t be anything but waving his Claymore left and right, dealing some Normal attack damage instead of being idle. Furthermore, if Gaming is paired with C6 Bennett, his Normal attacks will be infused with Pyro, making it crucial for him to use his basic hits.
5 Getting Him A 5-star Claymore
Since the entire team will revolve around maximizing Gaming’s DPS, it’s easy to build him on the best artifacts and weapons you have. However, Gaming doesn’t really have a Claymore that is far better than everything else. Instead, many of his best weapons perform almost the same. For that, it’s best to give him weapons like R5 Rainslasher or R5 Mailed Flower, which will perform very similarly to a 5-star weapon.

Chevreuse is an easy-to-master character in Genshin Impact - if players pay attention to certain aspects of her kit.
In conclusion, you don’t have to spend your precious Intertwined Fates to pull a new shiny 5-star weapon for Gaming. He performs really well with other F2P options.
4 Not Understanding His Burst
There’s a lot to uncover about Gaming’s Elemental Burst since it grants him many utilities. Not knowing what Gaming must do after he enters his Wushou Stance will cause a huge drop in his DPS. The main and most important part of Gaming’s Elemental Burst is when casting it, he will enter his Wushou Stance and summon his companion, the Suanni Man Chai. After that, every time Gaming triggers his Elemental Skill and Plunge attack while in his Wushou Stance duration, he will summon his companion again to reset his Elemental Skill once more.
Other than that, Gaming gains resistance to interruption, cleanses himself from other Elements by applying Pyro on himself and recovers 30% of his HP back. Not to mention, the first time Gaming summons his companion, he’ll deal a massive amount of AoE Pyro DMG.
3 Not Going For His Constellations
Although Gaming is great without his Constellations, they still give him a lot of utility to make him deal much more damage. Players might think since he’s good enough at C0, he should stay there, but missing out on a couple of his Constellations can stop Gaming from reaching his full potential.
His C1 gives him more sustainability and allows him to pair better with characters like Furina. C2 grants him extra ATK%, C4 improves his Energy, and finally, C6 enhances his Plunge attack by increasing its radius and Crit DMG. To put it simply, Gaming without Constellations is a strong 4-star character. However, C6 Gaming is a situation where a 4-star character performs nicely compared to a 5-star in Genshin Impact.
2 Taking Bennett Away From Him
Bennett indeed matches with everyone in Genshin Impact. But, in the case of Gaming, Bennett is crucial to increasing his damage and keeping him above 50% HP. Both characters also unlock the Pyro Resonance, which further increases Gaming ATK by 25%. Not to mention, if Bennett is at C6, then Gaming performs even better.

Xianyun is a powerful character who is actually the human form of Cloud Retainer!
Even if Bennett is heavily wanted by almost any DPS in Genshin Impact, Gaming loses so much of his DPS without him. So, it’s better to free Bennett from the other responsibilities when going into the Abyss or other hard content.
1 Not Building Him Right
It’s easy to miss building Gaming properly since he’s a Pyro character and everybody has a 4pc Crimson Witch of Flames ready. Since Gaming can continuously use Elemental Skills and works nicely with Vaporize and Melt, Crimson Witch seems to be an obvious choice. However, since Gaming can drain and gain his own HP so smoothly, he can also use 4pc Marechaussee Hunter.
While the set doesn’t boost his Plunge attacks, it does, however, grant him up to a 36% Crit Rate, which is insane and enough to put all your resources into maximizing his Crit DMG. It also buffs his Normal attack, which is important for Gaming since he’s going to be dealing damage while waiting for his Elemental Skill’s Cooldown to reset. To put it simply, players can go for Crimson Witch if they already have a good set, but otherwise, farming Marechaussee Hunter is more Resin-efficient.
