Each new Genshin Impact update usually brings at least one brand new five-star character that is hyped up by multiple beta leaks for that update. However, unlike the limited banner which allows players to pull for certain characters for three weeks, the standard banner is permanent and so are the five-star characters that are featured on it.

Unique character design is probably one of the main assets that made Genshin Impact the global success that it is today. Pulling for a new character is probably one of the most exciting things for any player out there.

Genshin Impact's gacha system includes two types of banners - limited and standard. The standard banner includes some fan-favorite Genshin Impact characters that appear early on in the game's main story such as Jean, Diluc, and Keqing. However, all those characters are dropped frequently on the limited banner as well which means that there is no particular reason why players should pull for this banner. Limited banners have 90-wish guarantee of dropping a five-star character but there is a 50% chance that is a character from the standard line-up. WIth the addition of multiple new regions and characters, players are expecting an expansion to the standard banner roster. A recent post on the official Genshin Impact subreddit has revealed which limited characters players want to be added on the less popular standard banner.

The fact that multiple Genshin Impact leaks have predicted the popular region Sumeru to be added to the game this year has led players to believe that some of the first limited characters should be implemented to the standard banner. A great example is probably the Hydro user Tartaglia, better known as Childe, who's already had two banner re-runs. Each of his subsequent appearances has had fewer players pull for him, even though the player base keeps growing with each day. Players would rather have him being added to the Standard banner than getting another re-run that will most likely be skipped.

A recent leak by a credible Genshin Impact leaker has revealed that future updates might bring a new mechanic that allows players to acquire the standard banner characters without spending their precious Primogems. It seems as though developer miHoYo is constantly changing the way its banner works. Genshin Impact update 2.3 has brought the first Genshin Impact double banner re-run which allowed players to pull for Albedo and Eula at the same time. This could be miHoYo's way of compensating for the absence of a new character on a certain banner cycle.

The official Genshin Impact social media accounts have confirmed a brand-new Genshin Impact character that will arrive in the upcoming update 2.5, the Electro catalyst user Yae Miko. The fact that Yae is the only officially announced character for Genshin Impact update 2.5 means that players will get a banner re-run for sure on the other cycle. Five-star characters usually receive a re-run five updates after their initial release.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5 with a Switch version in development.
