From Genshin Impact's success, many other games like it have popped up with varying levels of success. Some face heavy criticism from players for being "Genshin copies," but Arknights: Endfield promises to be its own game. Players of Genshin Impact will still be likely to enjoy the game in the ways it is similar, but its differences intend to make it its own amazing RPG game.

From the trailers available on the Arknights: Endfield YouTube channel, it appears that the game will be an open-world RPG-style game. The trailers promise intricate and detailed lore about the history and current situation of the planet the game takes place on, Talos-II. Players will choose between a male or female protagonist referred to as the Endministrator to begin their journey through this new world.

Arknights: Endfield and Genshin Impact Comparison

The trailers for the game showcase some gameplay that involves handling some tasks across the planet. It appears to be deserted as the player and their team travel across the planet. Throughout these videos, they encourage players to "make their choice." The Genshin Impact community has mentioned a few times that, when compared to other HoYoverse titles like Honkai: Star Rail, they aren't able to make as many important choices in-game. With a game like Arknights: Endfield promising some important choices to be made, some fans might have something to look forward to.

Another interesting difference between the two games is that the other inactive party members are still on-screen during exploration. As players use their favorite character to explore the terrain, other party members will run and fight alongside them. Each character appears to have a "burst" animation that allows them to show off their skills to the best of their abilities -- similar to Genshin Impact bursts, but instead of it being locked to just five-stars, it might be that all characters have them. Until the game is available, however, this is strictly speculation.

Arknights: Endfield By Itself

The game appears to take a combination of an action adventure and sci-fi approach to the RPG genre. The animation and graphics in-game are spectacular, and if the trailers are anything to go by, the music in-game is also a marketing point. It isn't just another game similar to Genshin Impact; it has its own sculpted world with lore hiding away for future players to dive into as well as music to push them forward. The official website also introduces some interesting faces for players to get to know, called operators, such as:

  • The Endministrator: The main character/player character for the game, said to come in clutch during crises.
  • Perlica: An authority figure who may have been the one to reawaken the Endministrator.
  • Wulfgard: A mercenary that players will have to earn the trust of.
  • Xaihi: A mysterious person with an equally mysterious past.

Sign-ups for technical testing are now open until December 24. It is only available on PC for the time being and will allow players to begin their tests in January. However, just because testing is only on PC does not mean the game will only come to that platform. The game has previously promised to be available on PC, Mobile, and PlayStation. Honkai: Star Rail has done a PS5 only technical test before, and yet it's available on other platforms, so those interested in Arknights: Endfield shouldn't worry.
