Genshin Impact's 3.0 expansion brought players to the nation of Wisdom, Sumeru, and with it came a new regional fishing association full of rewards for those willing to put in the work fishing. One of the rewards available from the Sumeru Fishing Association is the "End of the Line," a 4-star bow. Players are also able to obtain the necessary materials to refine the bow to R5, the maximum refinement. Unlocking the weapon and all of its refinement material would be equivalent to having pulled the weapon 5 times if it was in the gacha.

First, we'll go over the bow's effects, and some characters that can make good use of it, and then we'll explain how to obtain it.

For those who need a bit more information on starting out fishing and finding the Sumeru Fishing Association, a guide is included for both of these features at the end of this post.

End of the Line Bow Effects

the free 4* bow end of the line in sumeru genshin impact

The "End of the Line" bow appears to be a bow literally made by tying a bowstring to a fish. However, that doesn't mean it isn't powerful.

Here are the specs:

  • 4-star
  • Base ATK of 510 at level 90
  • 45.9% energy recharge sub-stat at level 90
  • The weapon's passive, called "Net Snapper," applies a stack of "Flowrider" upon using an elemental skill, dealing 160% of the user's ATK as AoE DMG upon hitting an opponent with an attack.
    • The "Flowrider" stack will be removed after causing 3 instances of AoE DMG or after 15 seconds — whichever happens first
    • The AoE DMG instances are limited to happening every 2 seconds, and the "Flowrider" passive can be triggered once every 12 seconds

While not the strongest weapon in the game, this bow could be beneficial to many characters, including (but not limited to) Yoimiya, Tartaglia, Fischl, and other bow characters that do consistent damage after using their elemental skill and need a healthy amount of energy recharge.

End of the Line Requirements

End of the Line Bow Genshin Impact

To obtain the End of the Line bow, the player will need to trade in some fish to the Sumeru Fishing Association, run by Loumelat near Port Ormos. Additionally, Loumelat will sell the necessary material for refining the bow and making it more powerful, called Original Fish Ointment. Four copies of this ointment can be purchased, allowing the bow to be refined up to R5.

The bow itself requires the following:

  • 4x Peach of the Deep Waves
  • 16x Lazurite Axe Marlin
  • 16x Halcyon Jade Axe Marlin

Each copy of Original Fish Ointment costs the following:

  • 2x Peach of the Deep Waves
  • 8x Lazurite Axe Marlin
  • 8x Halcyon Jade Axe Marlin

This means that, in total, to obtain End of the Line and completely refine it to R5, it'll cost:

  • 12x Peach of the Deep Wave
  • 48x Lazurite Axe Marlin
  • 48x Halcyon Jade Axe Marlin

Peach of the Deep Waves Location

The first fish that players will need to collect in order to get the "End of the Line" bow is the Zaytun Peach-colored fish, Peach of the Deep Waves. The Peach of the Deep Waves fish is the most difficult of the required fish to find, but fortunately, it is also the one that players will need the fewest of. This fish can only be found in one location in all of Sumeru, and will only spawn between the hours of 6:00 and 18:00 in-game time.

In order to catch this fish, players will need to use the Sugardew Bait (see the below section on the Sumeru Fishing Association if you don't have the recipe). Players are not likely to be able to catch all 12 of the required fish in one day, so make sure to come back on a daily basis (after the daily reset) to acquire 12 of the fish.

Head to the location in this image, in Mawtiyima Forest, to find a fishing pool on top of a large bit of foliage. This is the only place these fish can be found.

Lazurite Axe Marlin and Halcyon Jade Axe Marlin Locations

The remaining fish that the player will need in order to obtain the bow and its refinements are the two Axe Marlin variants available in Sumeru. Between the two of them, these fish can be found in every fishing spot in Sumeru, including the spot where players caught the Peach of the Deep Waves fish (heading there outside the aforementioned time frame will heighten the odds of Axe Marlins spawning instead of Peach of the Deep Waves).

Similar to the previous fish, Axe Marlins also require the Sugardew Bait in order to catch, but fortunately will appear at any in-game time.

While these fish will both appear in the vast majority of Sumeru fishing spots, if the player is only in need of one of the two, they each have a few exclusive spots. Lazurite Axe Marlin fish will spawn without the Halcyon Jades in the fishing spots located at the pier of Sumeru City, and at the large pond southwest of the Dendro Hypostasis boss fight. Alternatively, the Halcyon Jade Axe Marlin fish will spawn without the Lazurites in the fishing spots located at Devantaka Mountain, directly West of the Aeonblight Drake boss fight, and in Aaru Village.

How to Unlock Fishing in Genshin Impact

Despite being the fourth region added to the game, Sumeru is accessible by new players as soon as they complete the Monstadt Archon Quest Prologue's first act, "The Outlander Who Caught the Wind."

However, despite the region being easily accessible, fishing requires first unlocking the Serenitea Pot system, which will require the player needing to have finished the first chapter of the Liyue Archon Quest. Once the required chapter of the Liyue Archon Quest has been completed, a quest called "A Teapot to Call Home: Part I" will unlock the "Serenitea Pot" system. Then, once the Serenitea Pot is unlocked, players should return to Monstadt and talk to Katheryne, starting the "Exploding Population" quest, which will unlock fishing. Once all of this is completed, players can head to Sumeru and begin catching the fish required to unlock and refine this free weapon.

How to Find the Sumeru Fishing Association and Make Sugardew Bait

To begin the journey toward obtaining the "End of the Line" bow, players should head to Port Ormos in the Ardravi Valley area south of Sumeru City, and follow the path immediately north until meeting a NPC named Loumelat, who will have a fishing association icon above her head. Players should begin by trading in some basic Medaka fish for the crafting blueprint for the Sugardew Bait, a bait that will be required to catch all the fish required for this bow and its refinements.

In order to craft the bait, players will need 1 Harra Fruit and 1 Sumeru Rose per every 10 crafted Sugardew Bait, so players should ensure they can craft all the necessary bait to continue (a minimum of 108 bait, assuming all fish are caught without issue).

Bonus tip: If players already have a surplus of Medaka fish, trading in an extra three of them for the Fishing Line Stabilizer gadget will make the rest of this process easier and less time-consuming.
