For some players new to Genshin Impact, one of the most frustrating aspects of the game is the heavy implementation of RNG to nearly all facets of the title. While this is most prominent in Genshin Impact's wishing system, where players attempt to roll on limited-time character banners, it can also be seen when attempting to farm for specific stats on artifacts and even talent ascension materials.

One of the most welcome recent additions to Genshin Impact that attempts to alleviate some of this frustration is the newly added Dream Solvent material. With Dream Solvent, players can take any unused talent ascension materials obtained from bosses and convert them to whatever talent ascension material they require.

Players can obtain Dream Solvent by completing any of the Weekly Trounce Domains or the Wolf of the North Challenge. While there is no clearly defined drop rate for the item, players will likely receive at least one of this highly sought-after material during their weekly boss runs.

Players unfamiliar with the item can view how many Dream Solvent they have in their possession by opening their inventory and viewing the "Precious Items" tab. Because the item is an uncommon drop, players should refrain from needlessly using the item and only use it to convert talent ascension materials when they have an overabundance of a specific item.

To use Dream Solvent, head to any crafting station in either Mondstadt or the Teapot Realm and interact with the terminal. From the menu, tab over to the "Convert" category.

From this menu, players will see all of the boss talent materials currently in the game and the conversion materials required to obtain them.

When players find the material they want to obtain, they can select the paper icon found next to the conversion material display to select what material they want to convert. This can be somewhat confusing as each talent material has a default pairing set in the conversion menu. However, the default pairing can be changed by selecting the aforementioned paper icon.

Through these conversions, players will be able to efficiently plan for any upcoming character banners so that they have all the required materials to level a character on day one. While this still doesn't alleviate the fact that the 5-star materials can only be obtained once a week, it has significantly reduced the frustration of many players who have been playing Genshin Impact since the game's launch in September 2020.

Genshin Impact is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, with a Switch version in development.
