  • The book is donated by a former inmate and can be purchased in the Fortress of Meropide, an underwater prison added in Version 4.1.
  • Besides the Trump reference, the update also introduces new characters, bosses, and events for players to enjoy.

Genshin Impact players have discovered a humorous reference to Donald Trump's memoir The Art of the Deal that is featured as part of a recent update. It is by no means the first time references to real-life celebrities and personalities have been featured in Genshin Impact, such as "Smoothface" Paccino.

Version 4.1 for Genshin Impact was recently released, introducing new characters, events, and locations. One of these locations is found within Liffey, a region of Fontaine that was also added with the aforementioned update. It houses the Fortress of Meropide, an underwater prison that is due to be a major staging ground for Acts 3 and 4 of the Fontaine Archon quest. The massive prison complex is also home to "Scenes from Life in Meropide," a World Quest Series made up of a dozen quests, including one that not-so-subtly references a former president of the USA.

RollingRED posted on Reddit that Genshin Impact was the last place they expected Trump to be referenced, attaching a picture of The Art of Negotiation, a book that can be purchased in the Fortress of Meropide. Acquiring the book starts a quest of the same title, and the text within is a parody of Trump's memoir The Art of the Deal. Elsewhere in Fontaine, a document titled Book Donation Statistics reveals that The Art of Negotiation was donated by Jean Faustier, an NPC who served time in the underwater prison and considered it "a rather useful book." Notes from a researcher below state that the book seemed interesting because of its cover, but it is actually useless.

The facts that the book is donated by a former inmate and purchasable from a shop within the prison are either remarkable coincidences or an intentional nod toward the 91 criminal charges that Trump faces. A quest with a Trump reference is not all that Genshin Impact 4.1 has to offer, with two new characters and bosses making their way into the game. The Millennial Pearl Seahorse is a World Boss that players will have to defeat to ascend Neuvillette, a Hydro character that was introduced alongside Wriothesley as part of Version 4.1.

As has come to be the norm for Genshin Impact, leaks for Version 4.2 have already begun to surface. New Genius Invokation cards, limited login screen customization, and quick access to weekly bosses are now all expected to arrive once 4.1 concludes. But before then, players have much to explore and discover throughout Liffey, including four events set to take place across the next few weeks.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
