Dehya, a highly anticipated character, has finally made her way into the world of Genshin Impact with the release of the 3.5 Version update. She is a prominent character in the Sumeru Archon Quest and is a Pyro Claymore user. Fans have been eagerly waiting for her release, especially considering her beautiful design and since she is the first 5-star claymore character to be introduced in the game in the past 10 months. Her addition to the game is a welcome one, as the number of claymore characters in the game has been relatively low. Despite facing a lot of negative criticism from the player base regarding her kit, Dehya's fans can now finally enjoy the thrill of witnessing her cool-looking animations in battle and unraveling her backstory through the Character Story Quest.

Dehya was first introduced in the Sumeru Archon Quest as an Eremite Mercenary, assigned the duty of being a bodyguard to a notable NPC character, Dunyarzad. Despite her stern exterior, players were given the opportunity to discover more about her dynamic and compassionate personality, as well as learn additional details about Eremites by completing quests. Through building a friendship with the character and paying attention to her distinct design in Genshin Impact, players can discover several concealed elements about Dehya's character.

6 Dehya's Name Has Powerful Meanings

Dehya's reputation as a powerful and respected member of the Eremites is well-known, as evidenced by her title, Flame-Mane. Her name holds significant meaning as well, with many drawing connections to Dihya, a revered Algerian military queen known for her strength and bravery. This aligns perfectly with Dehya's bold personality and impressive combat skills. Additionally, her name can be found in various languages with Arabic roots, all of which share powerful meanings such as "rising sun," "strong commander," "resourceful," and "artful." All of these meanings are fitting for Dehya's character, especially considering her design, which appears to have been inspired by North African and Arabic cultures.

In addition, Dehya's constellation name, Mantichora, holds significant meaning for her and aligns with her personality and her title, Flame-Mane. This name draws similarities to the mythical creature originating from Persian mythology that possesses the body of a lion or tiger and a human face, much like a Sphinx. It is likely that this name references her status as a legendary warrior among the Eremite people, as well as her lethal nature as a predator. Some players may also notice similarities between this name and the beetle species Manticora, which also derives its name from the legendary creature and is a deadly family of beetles found primarily in African and desert regions.

5 Dehya Might Have A Prosthetic Arm

The unique accessories and gear of characters in Genshin Impact often leave players wondering if they have any purpose beyond their impressive designs. Dehya is no exception to this. While it has never been confirmed or denied, some players speculate if Dehya's right arm is purely an armor design or if she actually uses a prosthetic arm. During the 3.1 Archon Quest, players observe an interaction where other Eremites suggest that Dehya should sacrifice her right arm to save others, a sacrifice she appears willing to make.

While this moment demonstrates her bravery and selflessness, the reason behind their suggestion could be that her arm is indeed a prosthetic, it could fetch a high price. However, there is no definitive answer as to whether Dehya's arm is real or not, as it is not mentioned further in the story or her friendship texts. It's possible that she lost a limb due to the harsh conditions of being an Eremite, similar to Beidou, another formidable commander and claymore character.

4 Dehya Cares For Her Looks

In one of her idle animations, Dehya can be seen using a mirror to check and fix her makeup. This indicates that she enjoys remaining beautiful, even in the harsh conditions of the desert. Furthermore, her eye makeup resembles Kohl, which is used not only for beauty but also for protection against the desert sun and to increase visibility. In many cultures that Sumeru is inspired by, Kohl is used by people of many ages and genders as a means of eye protection and disease prevention.

In her Character Story 4, which can be unlocked by having at least level 5 friendship with her, it is mentioned that people perceive Dehya as immensely beautiful. Although it is generally considered an oddity among the Eremite members to care much about looks, it is stated that Dehya pays great attention to her looks and hygiene. Furthermore, during her free time, she even visits markets to purchase personal care and cosmetic products, which she depletes quickly.

3 Dehya Can Be Found As A NPC During Windblume Event

During the Version 3.5 Windblume Event in Genshin Impact, players can find a range of characters hanging out in Mondstadt. However, those who visit Sumeru City during the event may also come across Dehya outside the eastern door of The Akademiya. When players speak with her, she reveals that she is substituting for Cyno, who is traveling to Mondstadt, by assisting Cyno's subordinates. This not only shows that Dehya is trusted by others, including Cyno, but also that she is considered to have great leadership skills.

Additionally, Candace and Setaria can be found in Aaru Village during the event, Candace being the other person alongside Dehya which Cyno entrusted some duties while he is visiting Mondstadt during the Windblume Event. Candace is seen taking on the role of a bodyguard for Setaria and mentions that it is her first time doing so. She sees this as an opportunity to experience Dehya's line of work, as the two are close friends.

2 Dehya Is Proud Of Her Heritage

Through her Character Story Quest in Version 3.5 and by leveling up her friendship, players can gain insight into Dehya's heritage and upbringing. Despite the harsh conditions and lack of education that came with growing up as an Eremite, Dehya takes pride in her roots and has no desire to leave the desert for the more lavish cities of Sumeru. While she had some mixed feelings about her father, she acknowledges that he and the community did their best to care for her.

As she grew older, she seized opportunities to learn about the outside world, including the creations of Akademiya, the wines of Mondstadt, the utensils of Liyue, and the mechanical prowess of Fontaine. Her exposure to these different cultures and innovations likely contributes to her sense of pride in her heritage, as she does not feel limited by it and therefore sees no reason to abandon it, even if she is uncertain about what the future holds for her as an Eremite.

1 Dehya's Birthday Is April 7

Genshin Impact Dehya

Being given the birthdate of April 7, Dehya shares her birthday month with several other characters such as Aloy, Xiao, Diluc, and Yelan in April. Unlike Nahida, who has to wait almost a year for her birthday celebration, players can celebrate Dehya's birthday soon after her initial release. As an Aries, a fire sign known for its independence, confidence, passionate leadership, and good sense of style, Dehya fits the astrological profile of an Aries quite well. While there aren't many significant events that occur on her birthday that are connected to Dehya, having more characters with April birthdays adds more festivity to the month, as there aren't many Genshin Impact characters with birthdays during that time.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
