Now that Version 1.2 is finally here, Genshin Impact players can finally venture into the previously inaccessibly Dragonspine region. The towering mountain hosts a collection of new Cryo enemies, quests, and even Artifacts, while also giving players a chance to craft new dishes, like Goulash.
Travelers make use of cooked dishes to restore health and stamina in Genshin Impact, however, the newly added Goulash recipe serves a different purpose. This warm dish, made with Chilled Meat, was added as a helpful tool against the game's new sub-zero climate feature, which slowly whittles down a player's health if they're not careful.
Although the game's latest update offers a series of different new features to explore, some of them, like the new climate system, are making themselves more obvious than others. As players head into the new Dragonspine territory, they'll quickly realize the sheer cold is too much to shirk off, and that their character will die without some warmth. Even new characters like Ganyu and Albedo will suffer from these effects, so players will want to start stocking up on anti-freezing items, like the new Goulash dish.
Players will be able to warm up in several different ways throughout Dragonspine, but one of the handier methods will be carrying a supply of Goulash. This new dish is currently the only of its kind, and it offers players protection from sub-zero climate for a small period of time. To earn the recipe, players should simply complete the newly available "Ah, Fresh Meat!" quest. That being said, once the recipe is obtained, cooking up this new dish requires Chilled Meat, an ingredient never-before-seen in Genshin Impact. As one might imagine, Chilled Meat is basically just what happens when a player hunts for Raw Meat from boars in the Dragonspine region.
In certain parts of the icy mountains, players may encounter strange boars that have been frozen solid. Several are found surrounding the base of Dragonspine, for example, and once defrosted with Pyro, they can be defeated by the player in exchange for a small bundle of two Chilled Meats. Chilled Meat can actually be processed into Raw Meat by using a cooking station, however, the frozen ingredient is actually a key part of the Goulash recipe, so those in pursuit of Goulash should let their Chilled Meat chill, so to speak.
In addition to finding Chilled Meat from snowboars, players can also track down the elusive Great Snowboar King, which will reward roughly 10 Chilled Meats upon defeat. The Great Snowboar King is hidden away in Dragonspine, and apparently shows its face when a certain number of snowboar are defrosted and defeated.
Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for the PS5 and Switch.
