There are many reasons for gamers to check out the popular open-world action-RPG Genshin Impact, but one of the main draws to the game is its roster of colorful characters. Many of these characters are playable, but even some NPCs have their own fans, to say nothing of characters who will likely be made playable in the future. One Genshin Impact player recently did the math and came up with a graph charting the current gender distribution of the game's cast.
Although the game is technically free-to-play, gamers who wish to gather every playable character will probably have to shell out some real money. However, there are a number of characters who have technically appeared in Genshin Impact, yet cannot be obtained by players. These characters range from unreleased Archons to characters who have only been mentioned in lore or voice lines, and they were also added to the graph.
Reddit user impeccable_blue decided to create and share a graph displaying the gender distribution and overall ratio of Genshin Impact characters as of Update 2.5. According to their findings, there are 15 male characters and 30 female characters currently playable in the game, excluding Aether, Lumine, Paimon, and La Signora. There are another three male characters and one female character that have appeared in the game without being made playable: Baizhu, Scaramouche, Dansleif, and The Sustainer of Heavenly Principles--also known as the Unknown God.
Three male and three female characters are also mentioned in voice lines. These characters are Varka, Skirk, Yaoyao, Kamisato Ayato, Shikanoin Heizou, and Kuki Shinobu. Although some of these characters like Yaoyao have also been leaked, it's unclear when or if they will be fully implemented. Next, another three male and three female characters have appeared in official Genshin Impact media such as the Webtoon comic, Travail, or in official artwork, though not in the game proper. This does not include the unreleased Fatui Harbingers, who will likely add five more male characters and two more female characters if they follow the usual gender distribution.
Impeccable_blue's graph also lists the four unreleased Archons as female characters alongside an additional two male and two female characters listed simply as notable mentions. These notable mentioned include Klee's mother Alice, the Electro Yaksha, Albedo's creator Rhinedottir, and Subject 2. Fans may recall Subject 2 as the fake Albedo who appeared in Genshin Impact Update 2.3. This leaves the game with a total of 31 male characters and 45 female characters.
Genshin Impact is out now for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5 with a Switch version also in development.
