Genshin Impact runs on its colorful cast of characters. Their dynamics with one another progress the story, and give plenty of activities for players to partake in. The developers are also intent on increasing the roster of characters; however, in doing so, they may be too busy to notice a few things that make no sense for some characters.

Some characters' actions or ideas within the game can come across as illogical. By no means does it detract from their likability; on the contrary, some of these irrational traits make them more fun. Still, they can be head-scratchers in the grander scheme of things, especially since Genshin Impact's main storyline is quite serious.

10 How Is Mona Poor?

genshin impact mona

Mona is the poster girl for poverty in Genshin Impact. She's often the butt of broke jokes, and the game pokes fun at her troubling financial capacity through stomach rumbles or frowns. Mona needn't be poor though, since she's a Vision user. Furthermore, her Vision is hydro, or water-related.

With her set of skills, Mona could easily catch fish with the flick of her hand. There's no reason she should go hungry. Mona also has no reason to be poor seeing as she could easily become a fishmonger, and amass wealth by cornering Mondstadt's seafood market. Seeing how seafood is rare in Mondstadt shops, Mona could actually make a killing selling fish.

9 Why Didn't Zhongli Amass Mora Before Giving His Vision?

Genshin Impact Zhongli Tea

Speaking of Vision users being broke, another character who really has no business drowning in poverty is Zhongli, or formerly Morax/Geo Archon. Morax, back when he had his Gnosis or godhood token from Celestia, had the ability to create Mora, the currency in Teyvat.

Too bad he gave it away willingly. For some reason, Zhongli elected not to create a surplus of Mora for Liyue before doing so. The effect is that Liyue might no longer sustain its status as the wealthiest country in Teyvat. Oddly enough, Zhongli had plenty of time to create more Mora both for himself and for Liyue, since the Fatui Harbingers are still acquiring the other Gnosis.

8 How Does Ningguang's Jade Chamber Seal Osial?

One reason Zhongli became complacent in leaving Liyue in mortals' hands is that Ningguang seems to have everything figured out. She was even instrumental in defeating Osial, one of Zhongli's oldest enemies who recently broke free.

How Ningguang defeated Osial is questionable, however. Osial can't be killed, which is why he needs to be imprisoned. The Jade Chamber is notably smaller than Osial and at best, it can only be used to knock out the behemoth. Also, what would have happened then if Ningguang's Jade Chamber plan hadn't worked? Why was she so confident that dropping a measly floating office on top of a gargantuan hydra would be effective?

7 Venti Somehow Lost To Signora

Genshin Impact Venti Playing Music

Venti likely still had his full strength and capabilities as Barbatos near the end of the Prologue chapter, especially after Dvalin has been saved. That didn't stop La Signora from swooping in and snagging Venti's Gnosis without any problem at all.

Being the deity that he is, Venti could have put up at least a fair fight, especially since his Gnosis is supposed to grant godly powers. Even when Signora did take the Gnosis, there were many opportunities for Venti and friends to take it back. Heck, Dvalin could have immediately come to the rescue.

6 Why Can't The Traveler Utilize Paimon's Flight?

teyvat times statistics fun facts

While on the topic of aid, Paimon is another character who really should be more useful than she appears. She's one of the few characters or beings in Teyvat who can fly. Bearing that in mind, there are plenty of puzzles Paimon could have helped the Traveler with during their adventure in Teyvat.

Paimon also could have easily scouted some hard-to-reach places, or even helped in combat in some way. But instead, she seems intent on confining herself to either the narrator role or emergency food. She lacks the motivation to outgrow those roles, while still disdaining them.

5 How Is Childe Still Allowed In Liyue?

Genshin Impact Tartaglia Childe Golden House Money Golden Sigils

In hindsight, Childe Tartaglia is one of the most evil characters in Genshin Impact. He nearly caused the mass murder of innocents in Liyue just to get Morax to come out. At most, he also cost Liyue a precious Jade Chamber and tons of Mora.

Surely the Traveler would mention something to the Liyue Qixing about Childe's crimes. It also appears he was acting independently from the other Fatui Harbingers. So why is he still allowed in Liyue? He walks around in plain daylight in the city. Even Zhongli isn't angered at Childe's existence, which is odd considering Zhongli's contract was to protect Liyue.

4 Alice's Gift To Klee Could Kill Her

klee-drawing-genshin-impact

One of the latest developments in Genshin Impact's story is how Klee's mother, Alice, was vocally introduced to the game. During the Midsummer Island event, Alice made Klee and nearly all of the Knights of Favonius come to the island chain through cryptic messages, knowing full well that the island can kill some of them.

Alice also baited Klee into fighting the nonexistent Dodo-King, and made her as well as the others rush to an island that they couldn't have found without Venti or Dvalin's help. She could have just told them how to get there, since she wanted to share the discovery for scientific purposes. There is also the question of how Alice got there herself.

3 Jean Works Hard On The Wrong Things

Jean Kneeling In Genshin Impact

It's clear that Jean's the busiest character in Genshin Impact, thanks to her overwhelming Grandmaster duties. Yet despite her hard work, Mondstadt isn't any better, to be honest. In fact, it was the Traveler who fixed the problem with Dvalin and dealt with the Fatui.

Surely Jean could have done something about those big problems, but instead, she's doing menial duties such as rescuing cats or being an errand girl for Mondstadt's citizens' domestic complaints. She even went as far as accompanying Klee, when she knew that Mondstadt had plenty of problems with the Abyss and the Fatui.

2 Qiqi's Existence Is Problematic For Mortals

Qiqi holding her zombie talisman

Qiqi became functionally immortal as a zombie, thanks to some Adepti juju several hundred or even thousands of years ago. She's also a Vision user as a result, of her resurrection. If it was that easy to turn someone into an immortal Vision user, then why aren't people lining up to be like Qiqi?

It's a good deal, but carries the risk of becoming a mindless zombie, which Qiqi has surpassed. It seems Adepti can bring back people from the dead too, especially humans. If so, that eliminates the need for living armies, and makes mortality a bit cheap or less desirable.

1 The Traveler Keeps Derailing Their Goal

The Traveler himself/herself isn't immune from some logical inconsistencies, being part of a big open-world game. Their goal remains the same, looking for their sibling in the hope of rescuing them. Except there seems to be no rush in this pursuit.

The Traveler will easily forego rescuing their sibling if it means socializing in Teyvat's festivals or doing other unrelated errands. Granted, that's the inherent logical fault with open-world games, particularly ones with as many side quests as Genshin Impact.
