A Genshin Impact player has found a detail potentially proving that Lumine is the game's true main character. At the start of the game, players have the option to choose between Lumine and Aether to become their Traveler whose main quest is to find their lost sibling.

Regardless of which character their choose, both Aether and Lumine follow the same storyline in Genshin Impact, and they also have the same exact kit. Since the game arrived back in 2020, fans have been speculating about who is the canon main character between the two. Considering that Aether made more appearances in the game's official videos, the majority of fans thought that he might be the real Traveler.

The beginning of every Genshin Impact playthrough has players fight as both Lumine and Aether against a mysterious character. After a couple of exchanged blows, the game forces players to choose between Aether or Lumine to become their playable character, and depending on which character they choose, the other sibling will get sealed by the enemy. Reddit user snilac has pointed out that whichever character is sealed, the mysterious god holds their souls in their left hand. The thread points out that it would not make a lot of sense if the boss made the seal with the right and then swap it to the left hand.

While the theory might be a bit of a stretch, many fans say that it's enough for them to believe that Lumine is canon. There is not a lot of information about this unknown god besides that she might be located in Celestia, which is a legendary floating island that can be seen floating above the world of Teyvat.

A popular fan-made theory is that the mysterious character is somehow related to Paimon, who is the face of Genshin Impact and the Traveler's main companion. There are still a lot of unanswered questions about Paimon like how and why she appeared at the start of the game and why there are no similar characters in the world.

Genshin Impact's official story has been hinting that Celestia is the residence of gods and special mortals who ascended to godhood. While many fans expects this region to become playable in the future, it could take a couple of years before players set foot on the floating island considering that it's probably one of the end-game regions.

Genshin Impact is available now on PC, PS4, Android, and iOS devices. A Nintendo Switch version is in development.
