The arrival of Version 1.1 has kept Genshin Impact fans busy with plentiful exciting content, ranging from new playable characters to limited-time events. That said, players with an October or November birthdate may also be making some unique discoveries when they login to the game on their special days.

Travelers in Genshin Impact have thus far received three birthday messages from in-game characters, each containing a special bundle of gifts. While these messages are each written from the perspective of in-game characters, players can actually receive a special note, along with a "Cake for Traveler," from the game's developers themselves, if they register an account before their birthday.

To obtain the unique Cake for Traveler item, Travelers should simply play Genshin Impact on their respective birthday. Of course, "birthday" in this case refers to the birthday entered on the account's personal info page (which can't be changed once set), so players who might've entered an alias birthdate will have to go by that one. While birthday gifts from characters like Keqing or Xiangling include a small variety of items, a player's own birthday bundle will include but one single item: the Cake for Traveler.

For the sake of surprise, the contents of the Happy Birthday message from miHoYo, the game's developer, won't be posted in this article. However, players should be aware that this birthday note will include the coveted four-star Quest Item, Cake for Traveler. Simply login to Genshin Impact and check Paimon's Inbox to claim the reward.

When used, Cake for Traveler will do two things: reward one Fragile Resin, and reward one additional (unusable) copy of itself. So, yes, players will literally be able to have their birthday cake, and eat it too. Fragile Resin, when used, restores 60 Original Resin. Original Resin, in turn, can be used to claim rewards from Meteorite Remains in the new Unreconciled Stars event, or more broadly, to claim rewards from the Blossoms that appear after every Domain/major boss fight.

When players run out of Original Resin, they're forced to either shell out some premium currency, or wait for the game's timer to slowly regenerate the resource. Given that the Genshin Impact Resin system has stirred enough commotion to earn a reworking, Fragile Resin are a welcome item to most players' inventories; they'll allow for an instant Resin refresh.

Gamers who haven't yet created a Genshin Impact account, but already had their birthdays go by this year, should note that there's no negative consequence to using a fake birthday when registering an account (as long as the player meets the legal age requirement, of course). At the same time, the birthday message doesn't include a free Primogem package, or anything significantly valuable. Nonetheless, if a player would rather get their hands on the Cake for Traveler item ASAP, they can simply set their new account's birthday to a soon-to-be date, though naturally, they won't be able to celebrate their in-game and real-life birthdays simultaneously come next year.

Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for PS5 and Switch.
