Though she has been a heavily used character for recent banners in Genshin Impact, Diona is a character that saw her release early in the game's release. A cat-tailed bartender from the similarly named Cat's Tail in Mondstadt, Diona can be a tricky character to choose a bow for.
Diona is a Cryo bow user and an excellent healer in Genshin Impact. She has two major features that make her distinct: Cryo shielding linked to her elemental skill (which is also a great source of Cryo enabling), and AoE healing associated with her elemental burst. As such, players should plan to pick a weapon for Diona based on these areas, as she has only limited DPS potential.
Sacrificial Bow
- Base ATK: 565
- Sub-Stat: 30.6% Energy Recharge
- Effect: After dealing damage to an opponent with an Elemental Skill, the skill has a 40% chance to end its own CD. Can only occur once every 30s.
The Sacrificial Bow is the first of two bows that work best with Diona's skills. The bow has the unique feature of cooldown canceling, giving the player a chance to use Diona’s skill twice in an instance. The benefits of this are easy to see, increasing the rate of energy production, and therefore, the rate at which Diona can activate her healing circle.
In this way, the Sacrificial Bow is the perfect bow for an enabling-centric Diona build in Genshin Impact. The bow increased the amount of homing missiles that Diona can release in one go, making Cryo application for groups of more than three easier. In addition, she will be able to use her burst more often for increased application and healing.
Favonius Warbow
- Base ATK: 454
- Sub-Stat: 61.3% Energy Recharge
- Effect: CRIT hits have a 60% chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles, which will regenerate 6 Energy for the character. Can only occur once every 12s.
Second of two, the Favonius Warbow is great for players looking to use her healing abilities more often than with the Sacrificial Bow.
Like the Sacrificial Bow, the Favonius Warbow works to make Diona’s elemental burst more common. However, unlike the former, the Favonius Warbow does this by regenerating extra energy particles directly. The Favonius Warbow has a chance to regenerate an additional about of Elemental Particles with a critical hit, which goes straight to Diona's healing elemental burst.
The Favonius Warbow is a little bit more efficient stat-wise compared to the Sacrificial Bow; it has double the energy recharge (which is one of Genshin Impact's interesting stats), and an ability that targets Diona’s elemental burst more directly. However, for players looking to use Diona for her enabling abilities, using the Sacrificial Bow will increase the output of both her elemental skill and burst.
Recurve Bow
- Base ATK: 354
- Sub-Stat: 46.9% HP
- Effect: Defeating an opponent restores 8~16% HP.
Among 3-Star bows, the Recurve Bow is most suitable for Diona. The bow’s skill gives 8% of HP back after defeating an opponent, making it perfect for players that like to use Diona for more extensive amounts of time.
However, what makes the Recurve Bow most suited for Diona is how it targets the scaling of her healing. The Recurve Bow offers increased HP% as a bonus effect instead of energy recharge, making for increased healing based on quality rather than quantity. This is most ideal for defense-heavy teams with high health, as they will require heals less often but at greater amounts.
Generally speaking, the Recurve Bow is the most accessible bow for Diona, as it will be found in great numbers during the player's travels. The Recurve Bow can be found in a variety of chests around the world, as well as through the Going Upon the Breeze sub-quest, and once by talking to Nakano in Ritou, Inazuma.
How To Choose Other Bows For Diona
Generally, the three bows above are the only weapons in Genshin Impact that particularly benefit Diona in all areas: sub-stat, ability, etc. However, just as in other areas (like Genshin Impact's most popular characters), not all players will have access to these bows. Should the Recurve Bow not suit the player's taste, they can increase Diona's gameplay by increasing elemental skill/burst strength. Notably, bows that increase these areas include:
- Alley Hunter
- Mouun's Moon
- Polar Star
- The Stringless
That said, these bows' abilities aren't always straightforward, and players may not see the same results based on this fact. Should the player have an available Sacrificial Bow, Favonius Warbow, or Recurve Bow, they should equip Diona with these before other bows found in Genshin Impact.
Most Optimal Builds
There are generally two different types of builds that players can use for Diona in Genshin Impact: an Enabling (support), and Healer build. Which weapon and artifacts are best for Diona will largely depend on which of these two playstyles the player decides to use.
Enabler
Players wishing to use Diona as an enabler will want to equip her with a Sacrificial Bow if they can. This will increase the output of her homing Cryo paws, effectively doubling her application output.
In addition to this, players will also want to invest in a four-piece Tenacity of the Millelith artifact set, as this will increase both her teammates’ ATK and shield strength when she used her elemental skill. This could also be substituted for the Noblesse Oblige for players looking to focus on her burst damage.
Healer
For Diona’s healer build, players are advised to invest in a Favonius Warbow, which will increase her energy recharge more than the Sacrificial Bow. Generally, players will want to increase the strength of Diona’s elemental burst before they upgrade her skill or normal attack.
As far as artifacts are concerned, players will want a four-piece Maiden Beloved set. This is the icon healing artifact set, increasing Healing Effectiveness, and healing received after using her elemental skill/burst for a short amount of time.
