With the release of Genshin Impact's Version 3.5 update, Mika, a Cryo polearm user from Mondstadt will finally become playable. First introduced during the special event "Of Ballads and Brews" in Version 3.1, Mika is a member of the Knights of Favonius and joined Grand Master Varka on his expedition. With his Cryo abilities and Talent kit, Mika provides exceptional off-field support by healing and buffing through long skill durations that almost match their cooldowns. This makes him a valuable asset in various team formations, especially those that utilize Physical Damage in Genshin Impact, particularly Eula.

Mika, with his supportive role, is a relatively straightforward character to build, and for maximum efficacy, he should be played by utilizing both his Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst simultaneously. It is advised to prioritize HP% and Energy Recharge stats to enhance his support abilities. He can perfectly utilize a variety of artifact sets, such as Ocean-Hued Clam. Additionally, as with many other great support characters, Mika can benefit from top-performing support artifact sets, like the highly-regarded Noblesse Oblige.

Updated on August 16, 2023, by Elara Leclair: Genshin Impact's version 4.0 update, introducing the Fontaine region, brings about a large set of new things to explore. Alongside the addition of new characters, areas, artifact sets, and more, another significant change is the release of new Battle Pass weapons, as well as Fontaine region forgable weapons, which allow players to test new builds and optimize their favorite characters. With that, a character that significantly benefits from this is Mika, thanks to the addition of Rightful Reward, the first 4-star HP scaling polearm, allowing players to build him even more effectively.

Genshin Impact - Mika and Rightful Reward

Mika, as a support character who scales with HP% for his healing capability, has limited options for weapons with HP% as the secondary stat, with the only options being the 4-star Rightful Reward, as well as the 3-star Black Tassel. To maximize his support capabilities, it's recommended that players focus on this aspect, or otherwise a weapon that has Energy Recharge as its secondary stat, which will enable him to maintain consistent uptime on his powerful Elemental Burst, which has a 70 Energy requirement. Luckily, there are some great polearm options to pick from.

Considering that Rightful Reward not only helps with added HP scaling stat, but also has a secondary effect that can generate energy particles for him, it is the best weapon option for Mika. This secondary effect relies on Mika being healed; however, thanks to his Elemental Burst, which heals him and the other team members, this isn't an issue since he can activate this effect on his own. On the other hand, players who are yet to advance in exploring the Fontaine region, and are in quick need of building Mika, may instead want to focus on Favonius Lance, or otherwise other F2P options such as Prototype Starglitter and The Catch, the first of which is one of the many forgeable weapons alongside Rightful Reward.

Mika Builds - Best Artifacts

Genshin Impact - Mika Best Artifacts

The best artifact set for Mika in Genshin Impact depends on the player's desired playstyle and the availability of certain artifact sets. Building him with entirely healing-focused sets, such as the 4-piece Ocean-Hued Clam or the Maiden's Beloved set, is a viable option. However, the latter is not recommended as much. Although the Tenacity of the Millelith 4-piece set is useful for many support characters, and can greatly benefit Eula, Mika is not able to fully utilize its 4-piece bonus as his Elemental Skill does not consistently hit enemies. Nevertheless, players can still benefit from its 4-piece bonus by equipping it on another character, such as Zhongli, while using Mika.

The Noblesse Oblige set is also a great option for Mika as it provides an ATK buff to all teammates for 12 seconds after using an Elemental Burst, allowing him to provide even more buffs in addition to his already strong support capabilities. If the player has a shielder, such as Zhongli, in the team, this set is particularly useful as it reduces the need for as much healing. For players who don't have access to the Ocean-Hued Clam or Noblesse Oblige set or need more HP% or Energy Recharge, a mix of the 2-piece Tenacity of the Millelith and the 2-piece Emblem of Severed Fate sets can be considered. In general, players can mix and match different sets to find the best fit for their playstyle and team composition:

  • 2pc ER +20% + 2pc HP increased by 20%
  • 2pc Healing Bonus +15% + 2pc HP increased by 20%
  • 2pc Healing Bonus +15% + 2pc Healing Bonus +15%
  • 2pc ER +20% + 2pc Healing Bonus +15%

It is recommended that the main stats of Mika's artifacts reflect his scaling with HP%, with each piece prioritizing this stat. Players have the option of prioritizing Healing Effectiveness over HP% on the Circlet or choosing an Energy Recharge piece if it is not already obtained enough through sub-stats or the weapon. Finding suitable artifacts for Mika should not be challenging, as support/healer characters typically do not require the same level of optimization as main DPS characters.

When considering sub-stats for Mika, HP% should be the highest priority, followed by Energy Recharge, Crit Rate/DMG, and Flat HP in order of importance. Crit Rate is especially crucial for players who use Favonius Lance, which is considered the most cost-effective weapon for Mika, and having a high Crit Rate value, combining the sub-stats, and Cryo resonance can increase his consistency as a battery. It is essential to balance the HP% and Energy Recharge stats of Mika, as having too much or too little of either can result in diminishing returns. The priority order of these stats may vary depending on the team composition and the type of weapon being used.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
