Amber is a free-to-play character in Genshin Impact and one of the first characters players receive upon starting the game. She is a bow-wielding character and is often viewed as a utility character due to her ability to apply Pyro while exploring. While she isn't the most popular character when it comes to having her in team compositions, she can still be a good addition in some team compositions for players who enjoy some challenge and want to utilize Amber. Amber's kit can be useful for triggering Pyro elemental reactions, such as Vaporize and Melt, which can deal significant damage to enemies. However, some players underestimate her potential as a damage dealer, but her Elemental Burst and Elemental Skill can dish out a considerable amount of damage.

Team composition is a crucial aspect of Genshin Impact, as players need to balance elemental reactions, roles, and character abilities to succeed in battles. Amber can fit into various team compositions due to her versatility and ability to trigger elemental reactions. She can serve as a Burst-support character, providing Pyro status effects and buffing team members' Elemental Mastery and ATK with certain weapons such as Elegy for the End. Alternatively, Amber can also be utilized as a main DPS character, dealing consistent damage with her Normal Attacks alongside her Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst. It is essential to consider Amber's abilities and team synergy when building a team composition that can maximize her potential in battle.

Amber + Ayaka + Zhongli + Xiangling

Genshin Impact - Amber + Ayaka + Zhongli + Xiangling
  • Amber: Sub-DPS, Pyro Enabler
  • Ayaka: Main-DPS, Cryo Enabler
  • Zhongli: Shielder, Buffer, Debuffer
  • Xiangling: Sub-DPS, Buffer, Pyro Enabler

The Melt reaction is a powerful Pyro reaction in Genshin Impact that relies on strong Pyro and Cryo application. To achieve this, players can rely on Ayaka to provide near-permanent Cryo infusion after sprinting, as well as her powerful Elemental Burst, which deals high damage and consistently triggers Melt reactions. For players who prefer a different Cryo character, Ganyu can be used interchangeably with Ayaka, while Amber and Xiangling can be used to ensure consistent Pyro application. If Amber is equipped with Elegy for the End, she can also buff the team further for bringing out even more DMG output.

It is worth noting that Xiangling's Elemental Burst should be used frequently to increase the consistency of Pyro application. However, since this team lacks a designated battery character, players may struggle to consistently upkeep Xiangling's Elemental Burst unless they focus on her energy recharge when building her. Alternatively, Zhongli can be replaced with an Anemo support character such as Kazuha, Sucrose, or Venti to increase elemental application and battery potential.

Amber + Xiangling + Sucrose + Barbara

Genshin Impact - Amber + Xiangling + Sucrose + Barbara

Team Role

  • Amber: Main-DPS, Pyro Enabler
  • Xiangling: Sub-DPS, Buffer, Pyro Enabler
  • Barbara: Healer, Hydro Enabler
  • Sucrose: Buffer, Crowd-Control, Debuffer, Battery

Amber is the first character players obtain in Genshin Impact and serves as a versatile member in many team compositions. Her abilities make her ideal for F2P challenges, as her charge attacks enable various elemental reactions. When combined with other characters, Amber can truly shine in battle. One recommended team composition for Amber focuses on using her alongside Xiangling, Sucrose, and Barbara. Xiangling serves as an off-field Pyro DPS that can increase Amber's Damage thanks to Guoba and Pyro resonance.

Sucrose offers crowd control by swirling enemies with Pyro, increasing the Pyro DMG dealt due to the 4-piece set effect of Viridescent Venerer, and further buff and battery potential if players have access to her constellations. Meanwhile, Barbara provides consistent healing for the team and can also proc Vaporize thanks to the consistent Pyro application. This team composition can be obtained without relying on gacha pulls, except for Sucrose, as the characters are either given to players for completing certain challenges in Spiral Abyss or even obtainable through events such as Lantern Rite.

Amber + Raiden Shogun + Venti + Bennett

Genshin Impact - Amber + Raiden Shogun + Venti + Bennett
  • Amber: Sub-DPS, Pyro Enabler
  • Raiden: Main-DPS, Battery, Electro Enabler
  • Bennett: Healer, Buffer, Battery, Pyro Enabler
  • Venti: Crowd-Control, Debuffer, Battery

This team composition revolves around utilizing Amber's Elemental Skill and Burst to apply Pyro and trigger Overload reactions with Raiden Shogun as the main DPS. To maximize damage output, players should focus on using all characters' Bursts as frequently as possible, which should be no problem with so many characters with great battery utility in this team. Venti, a powerful Anemo support character, can provide crowd control and consistent Pyro or Electro application through Swirling with Elemental Burst, while also debuffing enemies with the Viridescent Venerer set. All characters in this composition benefit from Bennett's Elemental Burst, which provides a significant ATK boost and healing to the team.

Interestingly, while Bennett's sixth constellation is not a popular choice among players, it can be especially beneficial for Raiden Shogun in this team, allowing her to trigger Overload reactions on her own with her Elemental Skill and Normal Attacks.

Amber + Xingqiu + Kazuha + Bennett

Genshin Impact - Amber + Xingqiu + Kazuha + Bennett
  • Amber: Main-DPS, Pyro Enabler
  • Xingqiu: Sub-DPS, Hydro Enabler
  • Bennett: Healer, Buffer, Battery, Pyro Enabler
  • Kazuha: Buffer, Crowd-Control, Debuffer, Battery

Utilizing Vaporize reaction can lead to an incredibly potent team in Genshin Impact due to its high damage modifiers. While popular Pyro characters like Hu Tao are often used in Vaporize teams due to their high damage output, Amber can also be a valuable character to test out. However, to ensure consistent Pyro application, Amber's Elemental Skill and Burst alone are not sufficient. Although her Charged attacks can apply Pyro, they are not fast enough to benefit from Xingqiu's rapid Hydro Application

Therefore, Kazuha should be heavily relied upon to infuse the Elemental Burst area with Pyro, boosting not only Amber's damage but also providing continuous Pyro application. It's worth noting that even though Bennett's sixth constellation won't infuse Pyro into Amber's normal attacks, she can still benefit from the Pyro DMG bonus granted by this constellation. Additionally, Bennett's buffing and healing abilities make him a valuable member of this team. Lastly, players who have Yelan can replace Xingqiu with her to further maximize damage output. Alternatively, players can replace Kokomi with Xingqiu and Bennett with Xiangling.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
