How To Beat All-Devouring Narwhal In Genshin Impact

To beat the All-Devouring Narwhal In Genshin Impact, players must pick the correct characters alongside understanding the boss’ maneuvers. The Narwhal fight consists of two phases; the normal phase where players will fight the Narwhal form for almost the entirety of the combat, and another shadow phase which starts when the whale swallows everything.

In the Narwhal Phase, the boss will be strong against Hydro damage. As for the shadow phase, it will be strong against Electro damage. So it’s good to avoid bringing any of the two Elements into the fight. Additionally, characters that can deal Pneuma and Ousia damage are a good addition since they can quickly interrupt some of the boss’ attacks.

To enter the shadow phase, players must build the Narwhal's hostility by attacking it.

The All-Devouring Narwhal has a couple of weak attacks while traveling in and out of the combat zone. Players have to keep waiting until the boss returns from their journey outside. However, at a certain time, the boss will slowly appear from underneath the active character and slowly ascend as beams of lightning start striking down around the character’s location. Dodging these beams isn’t hard and players can also bring a shielder into their team comps to consume the hits instead of avoiding them.

After a while, the All-Devouring Narwhal will summon the Eye of Maelstrom that pulls nearby characters, and deals Hydro damage. It’s protected by a shield that takes around eight hits to be destroyed, or players can just use Arkhe attack to immediately destroy it. Only a handful of characters are able to generate the Pneuma and Ousia attacks. Luckily, Lynette is an F2P character that can generate Arkhe energy alongside the Hydro Traveler.

Dark Shadow Phase

Eventually, the All-Devouring Narwhal will swallow everything and take players into another phase of its combat. In this phase, a dark shadow will appear that deals Electro damage and can summon monsters that deal Electro, Pyro, and Hydro damage. It has a separate HP Bar that appears in white, under the Narwhal HP Bar.

The dark shadow can be really hurtful with its consistent Electro attacks and summons, so players must be careful. Draining the white HP Bar can be a pain, but there’s a trick to destroy it faster. Once the shadow starts charging by creating a purple sphere around them, attack them with an Arkhe attack to interrupt the shadow and deplete a significant portion of their HP Bar.

Once the shadow is defeated, players will go back to fight what’s left of the All-Devouring Narwhal’s main HP Bar. The boss will fall down and players have a window of a few seconds to deal the most damage they can inflict. After that, the fight will go back to normal until the Narwhal is defeated.
