One Genshin Impact player has taken the time to try and calculate how many hours of voice acting are included in HoYoVerse’s free-to-play title, revealing an absurd amount of voice work in the game. While some players may find the voiced lines in the title to be repetitive at times, the fact that even many of the NPCs in Genshin Impact have unique voice lines helps make the game’s world of Teyvat feel distinctly alive compared to similar titles.

Offering a constantly updated cast of playable characters and featuring ongoing story arcs that can span dozens of hours of gameplay, Genshin Impact has become popular with many players not only due to the title’s addictive gameplay, but also the game’s constantly unfolding narrative. With so many characters for players to encounter, developer HoYoVerse took on a monumental task when they chose to include voiceover in multiple languages for the game. Fans of the gacha game are clearly happy with the studio’s work, though, with Genshin Impact currently leading in the votes for the Game Awards Player’s Voice award.

In a remarkably thorough post on r/Genshin_Impact, Reddit user displacedindavis shared their estimate of the total amount of voiced content in Genshin Impact. Using YouTube videos of playthroughs of Genshin Impact’s multiple quests as a reference point, and not counting idle and battle lines, displacedindavis came up with a grand total of roughly 3.5 days’ worth of dialogue included in the hit game. With quests such as Moonlight Merriment featuring just under two hours of dialogue all on its own, it’s little wonder that it could take literally days for gamers to hear every line Genshin Impact has to offer.

Genshin Impact fans responding to the post were impressed with the amount of work that displacedindavis had put into calculating the amount of dialogue in the game, with even many long-time players expressing surprise at the sheer amount of voice acting included in the various quests. Other responses took the opportunity to give kudos to the game’s audio production team and Genshin Impact’s talented and ever-growing roster of voice actors. The English voice actor for character Aether, Zach Aguilar, recently took to YouTube to clarify why there were several incorrect pronunciations in Genshin Impact after ongoing complaints from some of the game’s fans.

As the world of HoYoVerse’s hit action RPG continues to expand with each new update, bringing engaging new storylines and a seemingly endless stream of new characters to Genshin Impact, the staggering amount of voice work included in the game seems set to grow as well. And with the release of Genshin Impact 3.3 and the introduction of new characters Faruzan and Wanderer just over the horizon, fans of the game will soon have a whole lot more to listen to.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
