After being pushed back a week for mourning purposes, Genshin Impact's special program has finally come around. Players have been anxiously awaiting this moment to see the next banners, events, and a peak into the latest and final addition the Fontaine's Archon quest. Genshin Impact has delivered more than enough to keep players across the boards excited and ready for the next update. The wait has been well worth it.

With the trailer for the Archon Quest, the 4.2 update holds great promise. Kicking off with the dramatic line of sentencing the Hydro Archon to a death sentence and showing off some unseen locations, the chapter "Masquerade of the Guilty" is on its way. This was the chapter title teased in the Teyvat Chapter trailer and has been many years in the making. Fans have anticipated this moment since 2020, but very few could have assumed its trailer would kick off with sentencing the Fontaine Archon to death.

Genshin Impact 4.2 Archon Quest Explained

The newest Genshin ImpactArchon quest, "Masquerade of the Guilty", promises to bring extra drama for its players. With the threat of Furina being put on the death sentence and people of Fontaine dying on the streets because of the Primordial Seawater, there's a lot for players to fear and look forward to. The version trailer even implies Furina's passing--something fans look forward to immensely to see how things truly go.

It's hard to say what is coming next for Fontaine, but some fans have already drawn their own conclusions. Recalling back to the beginning of the Fontaine quests, Genshin Impact's Lyney had passed out magician boxes to keep their belongings in. However, it was also described as a bag with incredible storage capabilities. Knowing this and knowing Arlecchino's determination to fight against the prophecy, it is not farfetched to believe that these magic pockets could also store an entire person. It's unlikely that Genshin Impact will just forget this detail and leave it as something silly at the start of the quest. The game has been pulling players in the directions of either Furina or Arlecchino, and some think siding with Arlecchino is the way to safety here.

Questions Around Furina's Fate

But one thing Furina fans have to hold onto is that Furina does still have her Story Quest, "Animula Choragi". A Story Quest likely wouldn't exist with the character absent or having just passed, so unless the version forces players to do her quest before the Archon Quest, they should be good to go. This can minimize the impact of Furina's death sentence. However, with the farewell she gives, her cry to "Papa" (who could possibly be Genshin Impact's Neuvillette given the context) and the general moody atmosphere surrounding the update, players can never be too sure.

New Geo Character Navia

Another shot the trailer shows is upcoming Geo character Navia falling into what seems to be either Primordial Seawater or suspicious water in one of the two new locations. Worse over, the Traveler was unable to grab her hand and get her back to safety. The newest update to Genshin Impact promises to be packed full of drama and suspense, keeping players on the edge of their seats as they play.
