A new Genshin Impact leak has revealed the map for a brand-new limited time region expected to be introduced during the Version 3.8 update. Alongside the RPG's frequent expansions to the game's core map, HoYoverse has often added limited regions as a part of patch-exclusive events with new areas to explore. Versions 1.8 and 2.8 both featured the Golden Apple Archipelago for their events, bringing players to a tropical archipelago to solve the mysteries behind the islands. Now, a new limited region is set to arrive in one of the game's next updates.Despite HoYoverse not revealing any official details about the upcoming limited region, leaks have already given plenty of hints about Genshin Impact's newest locale. The region was previously confirmed to not be the third return of the Golden Apple Archipelago, instead bringing a new location acting as a prelude to the Fontaine region. Leaks have also suggested Klee will once again star in the newest region's story, alongside the long-awaited return of Eula. Now, the region known as Penumbra has seen its full map leaked more than a month ahead of its launch.An image shared by prominent Genshin Impact leaker Merlin Impact depicts the rumored map for the region referred to as Penumbra. The event location notably does not include islands as many had previously expected, instead seeming to share design elements with Sumeru. Penumbra looks to feature several points of Sumeru-style architecture with its buildings, as well as what appear to be giant flowers dotting the southwestern corner of the map. The top of the map also boasts a building with a multi-colored roof, potentially teasing the architecture of the upcoming Fontaine region.
Reveals for the newest limited region come alongside plenty of other leaks surrounding the new content set to come with the final Sumeru update. The Version 3.8 update is expected to be the first patch since the HoYoverse RPG's launch to not introduce any new characters to Genshin Impact. Leaks have suggested, however, that Eula will make her return to the game after not being featured on a limited banner in over 500 days. Version 3.8 is also expected to bring new skins for Klee and Kaeya, as well as three new Character Cards for Genius Invokation TCG.
Penumbra's introduction to Genshin Impact has been heavily teased as a precursor to the upcoming addition of the game's fifth major region, Fontaine. Fontaine has been teased as one of Teyvat's most technologically advanced regions with "justice" as a core motif. The region is expected to feature several new mechanics and puzzles revolving around water, including leaked underwater mechanics and a variety of new aquatic life. With Version 4.0 expected to release this summer, Genshin Impact's newest region looks to be just around the corner.
