HoYoverse has announced the release date for Genshin Impact's highly anticipated version 3.4, with the update dubbed "The Exquisite Night Chimes." Version 3.4 of Genshin Impact will feature the addition of a massive new desert area, as well as two new playable characters. Further, the launch of version 3.4 will come alongside the start of this year's Lunar New Year event in Genshin Impact, the ever-popular Lantern Rite. All this and more will be arriving soon.

In early December, a substantial Genshin Impact leak teased some of the content planned for version 3.4. These leaks have been consistent within the Genshin Impact community and are historically very reliable. That's proven true, yet again. The leak teased the release of two new characters, Alhaitham and Yoimiya, for version 3.4's update, with Alhaitham being a rare Dendro DPS character and a five-star option, at that. HoYoverse has now confirmed those leaks.

On January 18, Genshin Impact will be updated to version 3.4, "The Exquisite Night Chimes." Two new characters, Alhaitham and Yaoyao, will join the game as playable characters. Both Alhaitham and Yaoyao are confirmed to feature Dendro powers, and as leaked Alhaitham is a five-star while Yaoyao is four-star. Alhaitham, Yaoyao, and the Ameno adeptus Xiao will be available for the first half of 3.4's Event Wishes. The second half will offer reruns for Hu Tao and Yelan.

An entirely new area named the Desert of Hadramaveth will also be introduced in Genshin Impact 3.4. This Sumeru region features a gigantic, never-ending tornado at its center. This can lead to strange weather and stranger secrets hidden among the sands. The "Golden Slumber" World Quest will reintroduce Jeht of the Tanit Camps, tasking players to find the mysterious Eternal Oasis. A powerful Genshin Impact boss, the Setekh Wenut, will be waiting to block players' progress within the Desert of Hadramaveth.

New characters and a new area are just the tip of Genshin Impact 3.4's iceberg, of course. Other additions include multiple new enemies, including the Eremite Scorching Loremaster and the Consecrated Beast, a new Light of Foliar Incision 5-star weapon and Alhaitham's signature sword, events like the Second Blooming and Warrior's Spirit on top of the Lantern Rite, and new TCG cards and character outfits, too.

Genshin Impact version 3.4 will officially arrive across all supported platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices, on January 18. Cross-save and cross-play functionality remain in place, so Genshin Impact players can prepare for the update on their platform of choice. Expect more in-depth coverage of The Exquisite Night Chimes update in the weeks to come.

Genshin Impact is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices with a Switch version also in development.
