Gears of War 6 hasn't been revealed yet, but potential leaks about the game have made their way online.

According to Shpeshal Nick on the Xbox Era podcast, known for their Xbox scoops, Gears 6 could be "almost" be a full open world game. Nick pointed out how Gears 5 was a "step towards that," and said that "Gears 6 will take that to another level." It's true that Gears 5 featured some wide-open level design, in stark contrast to previous games in the series, so it would make sense for the sequel to expand on that concept. Nick also said that the game is a "little further along than some may think," so hopefully franchise fans are treated to a proper Gears 6 reveal sooner rather than later.

If Gears 6 is launching within the next couple of years as previous leaks have suggested, it would stand to reason that the game's reveal could be happening at some point in the near future. Maybe the game could make an appearance at The Game Awards, or maybe it will be saved as a big E3 surprise for Xbox next year. Regardless of when Gears 6 is revealed, fans can count on the game making an appearance at some point down the line, as the franchise remains popular, and the previous game left a lot of dangling story threads to address.

The Gears 5 ending has put the franchise in an interesting predicament. Gears 6 will have to make one of the possible endings for the game canon, which will have massive implications for the franchise as a whole. Fans will no doubt be excited to see where Gears of War 6 takes the story next, but they will also be interested in seeing what it has to offer in terms of its other game modes.

Gears of War 6 multiplayer could be an opportunity to draw in new fans as well as bring back lapsed players, but time will tell how it turns out. Gears of War fans will have to stay tuned for more information about the next game in the long-running franchise.
