Gears 5 is showing up in a big way during E3 2019, with the upcoming third-person shooter debuting a new trailer and confirming a September 10 launch date. To cap off an impressive E3 2019 showing, an exciting pre-order bonus featuring The Terminator was also revealed. The DLC pack will be a cross-over tie-in with the upcoming movie Terminator: Dark Fate and will feature several of the movie's characters as playable in Gears 5.

Debuting during the Xbox E3 2019 press conference, a trailer for the Gears 5Terminator: Dark Fate pre-order bonus surprised the audience. The trailer featured a bleak, post-apocalyptic landscape littered with skulls, skeletons, and COG armor. It could simply have been a regular environment in a typical Gears game, until the Terminator itself, modeled after Arnold Schwarzenegger's iconic character, stomped on a skull and smiled for the camera.

Officially, the Terminator: Dark Fate character pack will include just two skins, the T-800 Endoskeleton that is shown in the trailer and Sarah Connor. Both skins will be exclusively available for Gears 5's multiplayer. After all, Gears 5 is a single-player game and allowing for alternative skins in a story campaign is a tricky thing to do.

One question left unanswered, but seems obvious, is whether or not the Terminator: Dark Fate character skins will be allowed in the all-new Gears 5 co-op game mode Escape. Escape is just one of five multiplayer modes in Gears 5, tasking teams of three to invade enemy hives and clear them out from within. It's probably a safe bet that the skins will work in the Escape game mode.

The Terminator: Dark Fate Character Pack can be acquired either through pre-ordering Gears 5 either digitally or from retail. Alternatively, Game Pass subscribers on either PC or Xbox One will have access to the Terminator: Dark Fate DLC as well. Rather than only allowing players to have access to the DLC while subscribed, however, Game Pass will unlock the Terminator: Dark Fate pre-order bonus for all Game Pass subscribers who play the game prior to September 16.

Gears 5 releases September 10 on PC and Xbox One.
