Disney Games and Empty Clip Studios have revealed Gargoyles Remastered is coming to all current platforms on October 19. The news comes nearly three decades after Disney Interactive created the original Gargoyles game to follow the cartoon that ran from 1994 to 1997.

The original version of Gargoyles was developed and published in-house by Disney for the Sega Genesis, and released in November 1995. As was the case in the cartoon, the titular Gargoyles came to life at night and returned to their petrified state during the day. In Gargoyles, players took control of Goliath as he faced enemies ranging from the Vikings that raided Castle Wyvern in Scotland in the past, to a variety of supernatural and mechanical enemies set on destroying them in modern-day Manhattan, New York. With hand-drawn sprites and animations for most characters, the original Gargoyles game had a cult following. News of Gargoyles Remastered first appeared in 2022 during the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase.

Nearly a year later, Gargoyles Remastered will soon be available to players. Gargoyles Remastered will launch on Thursday, October 19 on all modern platforms. Gargoyles Remastered joins a stacked October lineup alongside other titles such as Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Marvel's Spider-Man 2. In a trailer released on social media, Disney Games and Empty Clip Studios showcased Gargoyles Remastered in action. With Keith David reprising his role as Goliath and narrating the show's intro word for word, the trailer showed that players can switch between the original Genesis sprites and the remastered art style for the game.

The game will feature a rewind system that will allow players to undo their mistakes and keep trying to overcome challenging jumps and boss fights. In addition to the modernized gameplay, the game will feature achievements for players to earn as well as two different soundtracks, original and remastered, that players can choose from. Gargoyles Remastered was developed by San Diego-based Empty Clip Studios, who also worked on titles such as Streets of Kamurocho and NHL 94 Rewind.

In addition to digital releases, Gargoyles Remastered will have physical releases via Limited Run Games, joining a list of titles such as Tomba and Gex that will be re-released in this manner. All in all, fans of Gargoyles will not have long to wait to become a warrior by night once more.

Gargoyles Remastered launches on October 19 for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
