Everybody’s favorite lasagna-loving cat is back with his very own game, Garfield Lasagna Party, with release dates varying depending on the location. Microids will publish the game with Balio Studio serving as the game developer. The game is certainly an unexpected addition to the party genre this year and appears to be a Garfield-centered game mimicking that of the popular party game series Mario Party.Feline icon Garfield has been featured in several cartoon adaptations, board and video games, as well as films since his debut in a comic strip in 1976. This isn’t even his first Mario-inspired video game, as previous games like Garfield Kart have similarities to the classic Mario Kart series. The obvious rip-off was received with a majority of negative reviews before becoming a meme resulting in a flood of positive reviews on Steam. There was also the release of Garfield GO, the franchise's own take on the popular Pokemon GO mobile game. However, this is the first time the feline has been featured in his very own party game.RELATED: Stray Mod Turns the Cat Into GarfieldGarfield Lasagna Party will consist of a set of 32 mini-games players can compete against friends to win. Microids released an official list of several of those challenges. Since the game is based on Garfield’s well-known love for lasagna, most games on the list deal with food-related goals to complete to win. One example is “Catch It,” a game where players have to be the first ones to catch the toast and be wary of burned slices. There also appear to be regular mini-games as well, with the addition of “Dog Panic,” where players must escape a horde of dogs while dodging obstacles.

Playable characters include Garfield, Nermal, Arlene, and Odie. Up to four players at a time can compete against one another locally, and there are different game modes to choose from. For a classic experience, players can choose Lasagna Race mode, which offers more of a board game way of playing. For players who prefer something different, the Lasagna Challenge mode removes the board game aspect. Lastly, there’s the Lasagna World Tour mode where players can create their own tournaments for a quicker gameplay session that has a set number of mini-games to complete.

As mentioned above, the release date will vary depending on the location, but luckily all release date information has been announced at the same time. It will launch for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in Europe on November 10. It arrives on consoles in North America on November 15. The good news is that the party arrives on PC via Steam worldwide on November 10.

Though it looks like the lazy cat doesn’t add anything new or game-changing, Garfield fans now have something to play with friends if they want to experience something different yet similar to what other party games have to offer. Maybe it will inspire more memes if nothing else. Time will tell.

Garfield Lasagna Party will launch on November 10 for PC worldwide and for PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in Europe. The game will come to consoles in North America on November 15.
